I'd be careful trying a non oem pad while you have issues, it will give Audi an iron clad get out clause.

I know it's frustrating, but I would continue with Audi. There must be a point where it is deemed they have tried enough times to fix it and will have to accept a rejection?

They are unlikely to give you free brakes for life, do you think they may be stalling until 6000 miles where they are no longer covered due to wear and tear?

Paul, Good thinking there!

Brakes first went at 4000 miles, then 6000 miles and then 8000 miles, the car is following a very specific pattern which is wierd.

My 'official' time to 'reject' under the consumer rights act has now passed (past 6 months of purchase). Yes I proved there was an issue with the car 'before' i bought it however, they insisted on fixing it - considering AudiUk made cardiff fix them while I was mid road trip, Basingstoke pulled the whole 'but we personally have not had the chance to fix them'

When I am home, I plan on driving the **** off the car to no end, no chance since they replaced them recently, I am sure with how hot they are getting that I can make it happen again, then I want a full refund or a replacement car.

So tempted to go back to the F80 M3 is that happens.

PS. Basingstoke are scum bags, they lied about so much to my face, I would not recommend them or the lookers group they 'really' work for.

I maybe wrong on this but I`m fairly sure the RS3 applies the brakes only lightly and at specified intervals in the rain to keep the discs dryish.I don`t know which sensors it uses for this but if one is faulty it could be applying your brakes lightly constantly. I`m also fairly sure the pressure and interval is adjustable via VCDS. If there`s an iffy sensor this wouldn`t allow the discs to cool properly hence your troubles ???

You could test this by driving on a suitable stretch of long road ,then slow down using only the gears and finally rolling to a stop.without using the brakes. Then feel the discs for temp. They should be cold, if not then it`s possible there`s an iffy sensor.

My first RS3 order was with Basingstoke Audi, which I cancelled due to one of their managers. I had an afternoon test drive booked in their only RS3 at the time, roughly 2 hours before I was to set off up to Basingstoke, my sales guy called and said he has to cancel my test drive because one of the managers has just taken the car for the rest of the day, I said tell said manager when he's back, was it worth losing an order over. It took nearly 2 months to get my deposit back with Audi UK involved. Subsequently ordered a more expensive one from Portsmouth Audi, which I was going to spec change to with Basi.. their loss.

Yeah their moral compass is seriously off, I knew what I was buying was an ex-demo and even asked them if there had been any problems with the car, they straight up lied to me and said there had been zero issues..

After I managed to get hold of the list of stuff done and 100 miles before I brought the car they had to replace the exhaust and discs!

They / Lookers group are scumbags. When I am home, I am going for a very long and spirited backroad drive...anyway I can guarantee to warp them again? maybe a quick run through a 'puddle' when they are steaming hot?

0120raptor - that is a good idea, I will give that a go as soon as I am home.

Arcam - I can`t see any front discs on their (Tarox) site only rear? Is it that they are still changing something for instance tickness to origin 34 mm? Allthough they seems to have the most economic ones for our cars with good quality. These front discs had one for left and another for right not two left discs like oem?

Yes the front discs are left and right handed, they have sorted the correct thickness after my last feedback to them.

I can see them on their UK site, I used the search tool and selected RS3 8V and 3 discs are listed, I have seen them disappear during the time I raised the sizing issue but that was quite some time back.

Here is a picture I have just taken from their site:

Thanx, ok, if it works for you I am sure its ok for me too :). I think that the price is pretty good compared to other vendors like Pure Performance, Movit and so on. One other thing I have noticed that there are different bedding in process for every brand, confusing?

Not so much for discs, more so for pads. By the time your new pads have settled with your new discs (I allow 200 street miles) you will be ready to fully bed your pads.

Thanx, allthough it seems that its the same rear disc on both 8P and  8V according to info under "additional information" on UK site. I have already a good contact with one seller here so I got the rest info next week. Italians have vacation week now :).

You are correct, the 8p and 8v rear discs are the same.

Arcam have you been able to record that "failing wheel bearing" sound?

I think I might know what you mean by now.

I've had moments with the Michelins in which they sounded unusually loud.

Not as yet, but I will. I was just thinking about this the other day, it is not the Michelin tyres causing it as I ran them moss for 3k miles before the Tarox discs and did not get the noise.

The strange thing is that the dealer here said to me that there are no sound from the discs and that some people don't like it from other brands. Than I told him that one who have tested them says it makes sound and he was a little confused. For me its still better if they last longer.

Interesting, the Tarox sales manager here in the UK told me he has the noise as well he was wondering what caused it, after I discussed the issue with him he put 2 and 2 together and realised that the noise started at the same time he swapped his front disc out for the billet ones.

I have tried to record the noise several times now with a dictaphone and it does not playback, I suspect the mic is not good enough to pick up that frequently from the background noise.

I will try my GoPro or phone next.

How does it feel and how did your Nurnburgring went in late september with these brakes? You had some driving booked in late september, yeah? I have now at last got an order for the hole set of disks and pads with my Tarox dealer here and now it takes approx 3 weeks to get them here, long way up north  :(. I don`t like the oem brakes at all and it should be much better these new ones, we shall wait and see.
