Ohhhhh now I get it.
Then I'm clueless what the noise is caused by.
Maybe the tyres are worn unevenly?

Is there a certain event? Like a trackday or is it Touristenfahrten?
Will be interesting to see how well the brakes perform.
There are some 8P Drivers on the German forum which say that since the 8P disc got revised once again (now letter C in the parts number)they work pretty good in combination with better brake pads.
Arcam did you try pads only before you went F2000?
Yes I did do pads (Ferodo DS2500) only on OEM discs before the F2000 discs and Pagid RS29 pads.
It is a proper car only track day - DN16 event www.destination-nurburgring.com
So the Ferodo DS2500 alone didn't do the job? I guess so, otherwise you wouldn't have bought the F2000s.
Can you describe how the OEM discs worked with Ferodos and why you made the step to the F2000s?
(I'd also prefer closed trackdays to Touristenfahrten.)
The Ferodo pads were OK, the issue was that I ran them onto the backing plate which scored the discs. So I swapped the discs and pads. The DS2500 pads won't take 2 back to back track days and I had done another day at Brand Hatch GP circuit a couple of days before. So the Ferodo DS2500 alone didn't do the job? Yeah a link would be nice .
Are those Ferodos so soft that they pretty much evaporate so fast?
The DS2500 pad offers great bang for your buck, good for street and mild track use, 1 track day would be OK for them so long as you were not a left foot brakerYeah a link would be nice

I would be nice to know why pasting links and text is such an issue in this place

Nice laps! Also watched the video of brands hatch. Was that hail?
I really don't know whether I should upgrade any brakes parts really...
I have the Audi Fleet Comfort package for commercial customers which covers all wearing parts.
But on the other hand I ike to improve things .
Thanks and yes that was hail at Brands Hatch
If you don't track your car then OEM brakes are fine IMHO, but I understand the need to improve things as well

OEM brakes are NOT fine... they are too dusty, they clog up the ventilation and cause warping!
OEM pads should be changed.
SOURCE: 3 sets of discs and pads on warranty by 8000 miles...normal road use with occasional spirited drive
EDIT: Way I drive in back roads sometimes, could be on par with track driving, I have ordered some DS2500 for the front, hopefully I can get away with not doing the back?

I wanted better discs and pads all round for continued track use hence me swapping everything.
I have read your various posts on the brake issues you have been having and there must be something fundermentally wrong with the setup of your car.

Thats what I keep telling Audi! but they refuse to let me return the car and insist on trying to fix it.
As it stands they just replaced all disc, pads and hubs, 1000 miles in and my front disc are already dark blue.
I love my car, I want to get it under control.
is there any chance my Ultraleggeras are not providing enough airflow and / or not disappointing the heat fast enough to cause it?

Wheels can certainly assist in extracting the hot air, some designs are better that others, I can't pass comment as yours as I have no experience of them.Thats what I keep telling Audi! but they refuse to let me return the car and insist on trying to fix it.

I work off caliper temp as my primary concern and I use an IR gun to measure them, I take wheel, tyre and less reliably disc and pad temp as well.
If your discs are blue then it would suggest they are getting hot, it is hard to give proper answers when one does not have all the facts, for example your type/style of driving could play a large role on this.
Having said all that metal will blue when hot and without a data log to know exactly what preceeded the blueing I can't really comment. If they are getting blue from normal driving then something is causing the pads to bind.
Perhaps an IR temp gun may help answer some of the questions?

I have ordered some DS2500 for the fronts, when I get home, I will go for a drive with standard discs, take temps then have them changed and take temperatures again.
90% of the time I drive normally, 10% of the time I drive on the limit, but since having them changed its been 98% normal driving. They were replaced a week before my wedding so didn't get much back road / hard driving time.

Just be aware when taking disc temp with an IR gun that because of the Emissivity of the steel reading will be displayed as quite a bit lower than they really are unless you get the gun calibrated for the steel.I have ordered some DS2500 for the fronts, when I get home, I will go for a drive with standard discs, take temps then have them changed and take temperatures again.
