2.9 V6 450ps set to show itself at Frankfurt motor show
Hmm, so no power advantage over the current model?

There was a leaked image which I can't find now but that had the new rs5 showing the above power so rs4 will be same
Most of the N/A RS4's rarely make the quoted figures anyway because of carbon build up.
Power delivery will be a lot different on the new RS4 anyway.

Expect the new one to be lighter and have a shed load more torque - the previous model only had 317lbs/ft so for the new one with turbos I would expect somewhere over 400lbs/ft straight off the bat.
Have to say that the V8 was a glorious thing to drive, especially when it revved right up to 8250rpm!

The B7 RS4 is notorious for the carbon build up causing low figures of 370-390ps instead of the full 420ps. Lower figures than that were generally caused by vaccum issues. The B8 version suffers a lot less than the B7 in this area. Never heard of one as low as 399 due to carbon though, I suspect that car had other issues.
I expect the B9 to be significantly quicker than the B7/B8 as stated above due to weight savings and the forced induction torque.
And for the first time since the B5, it will be easy to tune and get big power increases without having to spend 15k on a supercharger.

Sepang Blue 8V RS3. Loud Exhaust. Loud Music. Louder Interior. Quiet Exterior.
I would be very surprised if the new engine only produces 450PS, bearing in mind the 5-cylinder gives 400PS.
I would think more like 500PS to keep up with the Jones' (aka BMW and Merc).

I think it will be around the 3.9 mark. It needs to compete with the Alfa and has to be faster than the RS3. And it can be as fast as the outgoing RS6 as that will likely be 5 years old by the time we get an RS4, although Audi can still claim the RS6 Performance version is faster at 3.7.

I saw one at the Italian car dealership which was formerly Nick Whale Motors in Bentley Heath near Solihull - looks very tempting
Some info on the likely engine spec for the RS4/RS5. Also the release dates of when they may appear - looks like we will be waiting a while yet
The engine is a shared unit from the VW Group - apparently its used in the latest Porsche Panamera 4S (if the info is correct) and is predicted to produce 450ps & 446lbs/ft (similar to my tweaked RS3 )
