Sports exhaust was great + decat even better imho. It is different lower down the rev range but still great albeit now above 4k it is proper mental. Going round a large roundabout today, had a load of people stood still on the other side waiting to see what was coming!

The noise you get at 4000rpm is insane very loud I wouldn't want it that loud right through the rev range I think it's perfect if you have sports exhaust buy milltek decats you will love it sounds like the old Audi R8 but a mini version lol 😂

Can I ask did you have the decats on a sports exhaust system or on a standard system ? I am thinking of doing this but not if it reduces the low rpm noises. Interesting as logic would suggest it would be louder throughout the rev range.

Sports exhaust which comes standard on all Australian delivered rs3s :)
The noise is louder across the full range no doubt. The pops/bangs sounded dull at low rpm compared to oem. On occasions when i downshifted even at 3000rpm from 3rd to 2nd, the pops would just fizzle out. Sounded horrible .. lol

But once u get past that 3500rpm, it sounds like a beast.

Being a relatively cheap mod, give it a shot and see what you think. Worse case, there will be heaps of ppl here who will jump on to it should u wish to sell.

Cheers.

I've heard the milltek cat back is awful. The sports exhaust seems to be a popular option

Yeah, you can hear a lot of different things on the net :). My opinion is that Milltek non res catback looks better, sound, bigger pipes that aren't deformed on the top side at least oem standard was in several places deformed, less restriction and so on, can't see any negative about it but maybe just me and a ton of others also :). Tuners also recommend it over the oem sports but what do they know :).

That's fair enough. It wasn't on the net I heard it from, was an owner who bought it with the intension to have a louder system along with secondary decats but didn't feel next to a OEM sports exhaust with secondary decats it sounded any better. Sold it due to this. However if it works for you and your happy with it then that's all that matters
