I had exactly the same problems with mine whilst still in warranty. Happened once then went away. Couple months later couldn't stop the b**stad wheel spinning on any pull away. It was the haldex pump. A reasonably simple fix. In the end.

They've either had a bad batch of pumps at some point or they only last a certain mileage/usage period

Not so bad then. Audi Stansted did say that they had never seen an issue with the Haldex control unit or gearbox.

What sort of money is a haldex pump fitted as Audi cannot get me in for another week. If its an easy job then I could get it sorted at local garage.

Cheers

Matt

This will be covered under warranty as its an item which cannot wear due to driver error...so they have to replace it....

Unless you put the gearbox in Reverse at 70mph....

Good luck!

Have you guys had your Haldex serviced as per the schedule? It needs to be done at 40k miles but the DIS doesn't give you any reminder (and sometimes the Dealer doesn't pick this up without prompting).

My car's only done 20k, my 2013 service book says the haldex fluid should be done at 30k.

Car's in the dealer as we speak getting it sorted, will post back later today once they get back to me.

I had the haldex controller replaced under warranty on an 06 plate Quattro a3. I stuck it in reverse on a steep hill to avoid an oncoming lorry on a single track road and it went bye bye. However I had a warning light on the dash constantly until it was fixed.

Car is fixed. It was the haldex oil pump that had failed. Replaced under extended warranty.

Was that an extended warranty purchased when the car was new, or an add on? Was it the Audi after-market warranty or a stand-alone provider?

Always good to know about good experiences with warranty companies...

Mines the same, just got it back but they've had to order the pump in, going in again next week to get sorted, under warranty too.

Mine had the 5 year box tiicked and is in warranty until March 2018.

Have exactly the same issue after replacing my tyres.  In fact, I visited today to make my first ever post on the forum to ask for advice!

Looks like I'll be taking a trip to Audi...

So that's my car back into Audi today to replace the Haldex pump, investigate weeping rear diff seals, investigate a knocking coming from the front passenger side and to try again to sort my squealing brakes.... I've been given a new A3 Sportback Diesel Sline and my God it's boring to drive, not a single option added either by the looks of it, hope I don't have it long lol

I wonder if that's the same noise as my passenger side ......?

I reported it to them when I first had it in last week.

It's like a clunking/popping when transitioning from forwards to reverse and visa versa, only when manoeuvring slowly you can hear it, seems to be coming from under the front end, sounds like passenger side to me but could be wrong.

They think it's the pads moving about which it may well be, they ordered up new spring clips and pins anyway but just this last week since my first visit the brakes have started squealing like mad too so they need to look at that.    This is on a fully revised setup that was all replaced last November under warranty.

No not that then......

Mine is more of a subtle creak type noise
Thought it might have been the front anti roll bar bushes but perhaps not as I've lubricated the rubber in them and it's still there.
Interestingly on hotter days the noise seems to stop so I'm convinced it's rubber related.

For anyone that's interested.

Car in with Norwich Audi today:

Traction issue - Found the car has a faulty Haldex pump, had one in already so fixing today (result)- £480 but covered under warranty.

I also had creaking in the front end, mainly during low speed turning at full lock - bent heat sheild, apparently corrected this and the noise has gone.

Quite pleased as dropped the car off at 12:30 today and will pick car up this afternoon.  But will obviously have to check all in order when I get the car.

Norwich have always been really good so far - they sorted the brake squeal issue for me previously no fuss, although I found out that it wasn't done under warranty as it's considered an upgrade (go figure!), they did this under their 'Good Will' scheme.  It was only that I bothered to ask that I found this out.

I got my car back yesterday too.

Faulty Haldex pump (as we knew) so that was replaced, woohoo I now have awd again.

My oily looking patch where the driveshaft enters the rear diff is, apparently, a "light misting" and does not warrant repair, it will be monitored at service intervals.

My low speed clunking from forward to reverse was due to an incorrectly torqued main driveshaft bolt, it was removed and re-torqued and this seems to have resolved it.

They could not replicate my brake squeal but have removed the pads, cleaned the insides of the calipers, the pads, re-greased and refitted everything, seems fine for now.

They also did my inspection service for £138 as no parts were required, they also ticked the "Haldex Fluid" box on the service list as replacing the pump the Haldex fluid was also changed meaning I won't get hit with that again in 10k miles.

Just had to pay for the service obviously as the car's in warranty some some time yet, cant complain really :)
