Good find I guess those with 235 rears have there speedo out slightly then too.

Regrettably, I suspect if any of us are caught on the wrong side of the law it will not be only 'slightly'.......
Oh well, I've just literally put the phone down to the tyre man after ordering 235s for the rear Think they will look better from the back too!
I have 235's on the rear of mine with no issues of rubbing - and what is a speedo, by the way??

Current car: Tesla M3 Performance.
“Lightning" 2012 RS3, Ibis White (Sold). “Bumblebee” 2018 S1 Competition, Vegas Yellow (Sold). 2020 TTRS mk3 Sport Edition (Sold).
I have never really understood why Audi supplied an 8J wheel if they always intended for the car only to be fitted with 225's on the back. It looks daft with the large amount of exposed rim sticking out begging to be kerbed. They should have supplied a 7.5J from the start if they planning that size tyre. Most likely they changed the rear tyre sizes during development of the car when they realised the poor job they did of speccing the rear suspension with things like the rear ARB made of toffee and to leave the larger 235's on the front to try and counteract the understeer a bit. I know when my rears wear out a pair of 235's are going on as I don't carry rear passengers and have an 034 rear ARB.
Just a little update. Got the 235s on this afternoon, they look mint. Real surprise at how much better it looks from the back, fills it's arches. Seems to squat a bit more and the look the MPSS have is second to none. No rubbing but I haven't had any weight in yet so see hoe we go!
I don't think the rears will affect the speedo, but I could be wrong.
I can't see your pic earlier in the thread anymore but approx 3/4 of a mile per hour at 70 mph if I recall correctly.

I think the simple answer to 7.5J is cost. I am not aware of much else that uses the RS3 offset. I would imagine they would have wanted to supply 235's all round but they can rub so a manufacturer couldn't allow that. What they should have done is match the rear arches to the front to allow the 235's on the rear but sadly it seems this was an RS made on a budget.
I've gone for the new Continental sportcontact 6 which has won Evo Tyre test 2016.
Front Tyre size 245 / 35 / 19
Rear Tyre size 235 / 35 / 19
Taking a bit of risk doing this as I havent seen anyone else try this combination, in theory it should be a good in balance, grip and comfort.
Will advise if there are any issues.

235/35/19 front and rear will be fine...we ran them on our RS3 demo and they were fine...
8.5x19 OZ wheels all round and Bilstein coilovers with no rubbing whatsoever
hope that helps
