Cost of car £52,475

Over 48 months with £10,000 deposit..............£646.39 a month!!

Residual value of £19,831.00 which is utter s****

I have asked them to look at the residual as i reckon that is just the residual on a standard car. Anyway i have asked for the figures on a bog standard car with no extras to see what that comes back as!

How did you arrive at the £52k, as in what  sort of spec.

Tell me about it! Just heard back from them and they reckon options make no difference to the residual value whatsoever. Ill list my spec below. Im now looking at other brands what with having to wait till Q4 with buckets etc and now s*** residuals.

RS supersports seats £795

RS design package £895

Electric seats £550

Lumbar support £195

Wider front wheels £795

Tech pack with Audi connect £1795

Dynamic package £1495

Extended matt aluminium package £695

Audi phone box £325

Advanced key £425

Pan roof £950

Aluminium rails £250

Privacy glass £290

Driver assistance package £705

Auto dimming mirrors £250

That is shite. Thought they would at least offer 4.9% or similar as on RS4/6

When I bought the a6 last year, it was the same on the residuals - i.e options made no difference, but I was told that Audi were looking to change this.

Exactly, just had a lengthy conversation with the business manager and he was saying its better as you have more equity in the car when you come to change it, however i explained to him that its rubbish if you wanted to keep your monthly payments lower!

Try another lender?

I have bought a good few Audis and never once used their finance. They are very uncompetitive and I think they believe that once they have you locked in to buying one of their cars you don't have a choice of finance.

I'm not advertising as such but Santander have my current car (2.65%) and Lombard (business) had my 911 and weren't much dearer.

I have no connection with the above and "other finance deals are available", as they say.

Residual on an S3 stronic sport back after 48months is £15,906 so it is about the right percentage of the price, looks like you are going to careful not optioning it up if on PCP...

The A45 AMG residual after 36months is £20,000 from here http://offers.mb.co.... 45 AMG 4MATIC, so that residual is about right unfortunately.

Its a brand new model so they know they can ask a premium ,theres been big discounts on the RS4/5 for well over a year the order book has been closed for about a month i read on another forum there was less than 200 unregistered cars left in the country as i wrote in another thread on here im going down the RS4/5 route next then in 2-3 years or sooner if theres discounts to be had on the RS3 ill have one.

They don't need to, it's a new model and what the APR was on the 8P model. if you want cheaper you either have to have a good relationship with your dealer or finance elsewhere.

Hi Guys, this is my first post. Finance4cars.co.uk will do a lease purchase at 5.7% - 5.9% Apr (depending on deposit) Residuals are slightly lower, but you can go 5 years, but only if they source the car. Finance only is about 7.9%. Options are not on yet though.

Forgot to ask you what mileage this was for too? Is it 10k pa? I only do 6-8k a year, so often makes sense to do a 5k limit and pay the excess.
By dropping it from 10k to 5k on the s3 it increases the gmfv by 1500 or so.

The residual quoted by the OP is actually better than on my 4yr PCP on 10k miles p.a. on the 8P at 6.9% APR

It is quite common for options to be discounted on PCP deals as they make no difference to residual value of the asset (the car). The lender then protects themself in the result of getting the car back. That's not to say that the car isn't marketed again at a much higher forecourt price - their prerogative. In the end, the true value of anything is what someone will give you for it.

Having said all that, I know when I had a Mercedes, you could see the impact on residuals for each option specified. So it does come down to the lender and their terms (financial models)
Maintaining status quo is not an option
