I think Sat/Nav was probably std on the MK1s as Audi had a bin full of prehistoric units that no one would want so why not stick it on a Car and let people think there were getting a £1500 option as std. On The New S3 it's an Option along with the likes of Merc's A45 and VW's Golf R, And even if you do specify it on the Gen 2 Car It's still only puts the New Model £500 more than the Mark 1 and for that you get more than the Gen 1 Cars had as STD (which surely makes it better value than what Audi offered 4 Years ago and they sold all 750 Cars without much problem)
As for the Extras something's like the Supersport Seats can be viewed/tested in the existing S3 and as most People seemed to ignore the reviews of the Gen 1 Cars otherwise we would all be driving round in BMW' M135i's so not worth waiting for there useless knowledge..
Understand what your saying about trying something before you would place an order but judging by a lot of peoples excitement from just seeing the configurator going on-line there prepared to be like a kid in the sweet shop when they leave that Dealership in not only a brand new Car but also one of the 1st of what I'm sure will turn out to be one hell of a Beast. So I suppose you could say what price do you put on that feeling if you've got to forgo the family Holiday to pay the Extra probably a bit stupid but if it just means there's a bit less in the pot at the end of the year then maybe the excitement of owning a New RS3 is worth it.
Indeed - clearly for all those ordering right now then that excitement is worth the price and I sincerely hope you are all happy with your choices. I wasn't intending to be at all critical, merely saying that it isn't for me just yet
