I confirmed my spec today and agreed a fair price for the Car, I am now well looking forward to getting it and I have asked my dealer for a production/delivery date, as soon as He knows.

Why are people stating that it is £20k more than a MK1, it is 3-4 years newer.... If you bought a new Mk1, this would still be the case. The Mk1 is lovely and the Mk2 is different and a little updated. We all like the RS3, so why get so hung up on comparing. You are paying £45k plus for a "Brand New" RS3 with warranty, so yes any Mk1 will have depreciated somewhat and so will the Mk2 in 4 years time or am I missing something.

I am well looking forward to getting mine and WILL enjoy it, not sit comparing it to a £30k Mk1......

Kibber, you have just stated exactly the scenario, i.e. for those with a MkI RS3 who would likely get £25-30k trade in is the Mk II worth investing another £20k+ into when you factor in options and interest if financing the car. Is it £20K+ better, not £20k+ newer.

I suspect most Mk I owners would hope that it is a step change forward not only in how 'fresh' it looks but importantly how it drives, handles and performs overall. If it is the same or worse still, lesser of a performance car than the Mk I why then sink that extra money into a car that is not better? Personally there is a certain value to be spent on having a newer car with warranty but not £20K so it has to perform better otherwise stick with what I have until the cost differential means it is worth making the trade.

Put it this way, if you had two identical cars in terms of performance, handling, presence and feel good factor but one was newer than the other is that worth £20k+ to you to have the newer one? If it is then that is your prerogative; me personally I have better things to do with £20K than go for the latest shiniest thing. If the 8v rides better, stops better, sounds better and performs better overall whilst being fresher then for me it may be worth trading up. If it were the same but fresher and only £10k difference then I would probably still consider trading but £20K is nearly double the price of what I have on my driveway and I can't rationalise that even if the payments are the same and the residual after 4 years is marginally better as I'm getting myself into another 2 years of debt for what? For a quarter of that outlay I could take my Mk I, put Bilsteins on it and a TTE500 and then have a car that would far outperform an 8V albeit it is now not OEM.

I am not slating the 8V at all and I hope it is a better car then the 8P and it should be however just working on paper alone since none of us have driven the car it isn't for me given its price point, depreciation etc. It will for me have to eliminate all the niggles the 8P has and drive better overall to make it worthwhile as I am clearly not fortunate enough just to throw a whole heap of cash at it to be the same but with a newer shape / registration plate on it.

Yes, we have two scenarios, those who already own one and then people like me. It is my first RS3 and I do not care about the 15 plate etc, I have private plates on all my cars, which some people also detest. I really fancied an RS3 and it appears to fit my requirements 100%, it was just a coincidence that a new model came out at the same time. I already have and will be keeping an S3 in the old shape, so I like both, as stated before.

For me paying an extra £15k, offered something new and the warranty means more than anything else, hence why I opted for 5 years!!!!

Hi Kibber, were there any changes in the dealer's configurator compared to the brochure that appeared for a few hours?  Like is it possible to choose the interior light package, sports exhaust or the adaptive cruise control without having to buy a package of things you might not want?

Thanks

In my garage:  RS3 8V Sepang blue, standard wheels and trim, SS seats in black/grey with grey headlining, comfort and sound, dynamic pack, dipping door mirror, no farting pack,  :D

So does this mean they want you to come in to spec one up / are they just trying to keep you interested?

I brought a MK7 GTI because I got bored of waiting, will chop it in when the RS comes. To be fair its a pretty good car, not quick but its still fun.

It's to spec one up even said can hold one for me no deposit till end of the month.
Their Configurator is up n running in house. Business manager drove one in Germany and rates it as more fun than his RS6

Isaac

I enquired about the Full Buckets and Carbon inlays, but got no joy. It appears as per the UK brochure and I was given week 37 for delivery. I am expecting some delays along the way, so September/October time.

Very mixed reviews but an underlying 'it's Ok but not brilliant' consensus is a bit disappointing. Definitely need to drive one to see if it is worth it with mag ride and sports exhaust.

It obviously couldn't of been very good " camo pattern " if you saw it .💄
