Does anyone use these? My Ibis is showing lots of little tar spots and contamination so I want to start getting rid of them. No idea what's a good clay though?

Also after a good polish as I hear that AG SRP is a bit harsh? Do I seal after polishing too?

I could go over to detailing world but to be honest there is so many differing opinions on products I would rather just take an opinion of fellow RS3 owners :)

I guess it depends on how often you like to wax the car.

I Clay the car every 6 months or so, Its great at removing tar spots and contaminants however use the fine (least abrasive) clay to minimise any chance of marring,  the harsher stuff is really used prior to machine polishing.

SRP does have a mild abrasive quality however also has swirl filling capabilities too so its a good base.

If you have the Aquawax then this would keep the car looking good for the weekly wash then just use a wax of your choice as desired.

Thats the simple answer without boring you DW style with waxes/glazes/polishes etc.

I'm no detailer but i've spent enough time around DW and also with a detailing friend where i learnt the ropes if you will.

I enter the Corrado in Show and shine events and thats where it becomes OCD and obsessive, Two days of machine polishing etc then trying loads of boutique waxes/polishes

Its cost me a fortune and i've a shed full of different products.

Claying is a good idea because if you don't any polish you apply will not adere to the paint as well as a clean bare surface. Before that though, wash / rinse your car and invest in some C-Quartz Iron-X to spray on after that. Iron-x gets metal contaminants out of your paint and also removes tar as well. Sprsay it on your car and you'll see it working when it goes purple. Then rinse off thoroughly before claying (Iron-x also as an added bonustakes whetaever polish that is on your car off as well). For clay I would recommend Bilt Hamber Autoclay as you can just use water as lube for it. You only have to do this maybe every 3-6 months depending on how OCD you are.

SRP is a good polish and has fillers that will mask swirls until such times as you could have a detailer that machine polishes / corrects the paintwork for you.

HTH.

IronX is great for wheels too!   It does however massively stink of rotten eggs lol

Ah but there is now Cherry scented Iron-x which smell like rotten eggs with cherries!

It is great for wheels and for me negates the needs for Tardis.

I've found i still need tar remover,  The IronX doesn't usually remove that too.

The Sport we have always picks up tar on the wheels for some reason, More so than other cars.

Between wheel woollies, Iron-X and AG Custom wheel cleaner it gets rid of everything off the wheels, even wheel weight glue if they have been rebalanced. But then  decent wheel prep (using G-Techniq C5 sealant on the wheels) plus regular washing of the wheels inside and out ensures tar doesn't stick to them well.

I'm now using Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal and using it everywhere: bodywork, glass, wheels and ok, even the house windows and UPVC frames - it's amazing stuff.  Mix 1:2 to start and then follow regularly with a 1:4: wash, wipe, spray, and polish off with a nice soft micro-fibre cloth.

Kin-amazing' guys

And I don't polish/wax, just a clean water wash and a flash/spray over wipe with C2v3 Liquid Crystal (all free samples gratefully received Gtechniq, no worries here, grovel, grovel, scrounge) - resulting in an amazing gloss/finish.

Clay?  What's all that about?  Used to make pots with that stuff back in the 60's.  :D

John if you run your fingers over your car following a good claying its like new glass.

Sounds like you have a decent routine using Gtechniq though.   Is it easy to apply initially?

Yep, it wasn't that long ago that John was using petrol and an oily rag to wash his wheels :)

I bet it works though... A font of knowledge he is :)

John...I'm kinda confused here....when I was last at your house I mentioned using GTech stuff and you said you are not paying for all that c**** and the stuff you have used since the 60s works best! lol
