hi folks, writing from Singapore.  I am wanting to check if there is a need calibrate the mag ride suspension after

changing out to lower springs.

I have the MSS Track Pack, It has pretty much transformed how the car rides, soaking up bumps , undulations and keeps the ride pretty flat. I have noticed that there is bounce from the suspension going over speed bumps and some road conditions. The maker advises there is no need to calibrate as the Mag ride is self learning.??

I have also read that there is a need for it to be done as the Mag ride wont know its new zero position with the new the lowered height which I would think then would mask the actual damping/rebound of the shocks

your advise / thoughts much appreciated

Nothing in VCDS or VCP yet as a log in code is needed

Odis can do it though so I'm told.

This car doesn't have a pneumatic suspension so it can't be done through VCDS

yes I believe at this point it can be only done via the ODIS system.

would be interested to hear of any one who has done it - a before and after review

cheers

I use Odis but it still needs a security password for calibrating mag ride.

Did anyone get to the bottom of this. Is there are procedure, and does anyone have any links to its effects etc, or know of anyone who can do it?

Yes I know of someone that can do Mag ride recalibration.

I'll pm you his details.

He recently did it on an 8V and the owner said it really improved things no end.

In respect of re-callibration - What does it do, just tune the dampers to the new height and travel?

the dampers need a datum position to work correctly, Calibration gives the ecu the info for each corner when standing on a level surface.......

If lowering springs are fitted the dampers are compressed more and cannot reach the datum position set at the factory, so when driving along they cannot react properly to road conditions and make the correct adjustments.

I enquired about this with the local Audi dealership today. They got back to me stating no calibration is required on mag ride. Rather the headlights need an adjustment. Quote $220 aud.

I will try another Audi service centre.

I've just had this done by Wolverhampton Audi whilst my car was in for some warranty work. I can categorically say this has totally transformed the ride comfort of this car. It is 100% worth it. My h&rs used to be very crashy and now they are really smooth

I just remembered that i'm absent minded, wait, i mean i lost my mind i can't find it.

Thats good to know, as the MSS Springs have totally transformed it from the H&R's.  Best I get this done asap :-)

I've had mine done via ODIS. It has made the ride that bit better with the MSS Track Pack.

Suspension much more reactive and the damping nice and tight.

Would say a definite 'to do' when changing out to lower springs on the Mag ride.
