Hi All,

as you will all see we have more and more brake problem threads coming up. So i thought it would be be a good idea to pin one thread so that everyone can share the problems and fixes.

Please give as much detail as possible.

  1. Your whats the issue is.
  2. Your approach to getting the problem sorted
  3. Your results

it will make it a lot easier for people to see what the best action to take is and what people have done to rectify the issues.

so from now on please add your info and issues regarding brakes to this thread.

many thanks.

The trouble is most people don't use the search box and just start a new topic thats why theres so many threads on all sorts things not just brakes,a good topic would be a how to search the forum for an answer to a question :)

Hi just a quick one! I ordered the redstuff pads in May and still waiting for delivery ? I had new discs and pads fitted by Audi in June and I have to use the car daily I've not driven too hard but steering wobble has come back and discs are starting to ripple again slightly

Will I need to do anything with discs when new pads arrive
Or will they sort the discs out

Or will I need new discs again ? Or get them skimmed

advice would be appreciated

MPSS are by far a better tyre. The junky area I would say they aren't great is in torrential rain.

PZero's have in the past been quieter because they are softer and not as durable or as good overall grip wise to MPSS's or F1's

A couple of thoughts to go with all the above -

As second owner - bought at 14k miles, my original crappy standard front discs and pads were replaced by Audi at 18k with updated 47i6(?) parts. I'm now on 41k and while the pads still look surprisingly good the discs are on the limit, so it's time to replace with new ones and my nice Redstuff pads. Happy enough with the OEM disc and general performance over the lifespan so we'll see how the Redstuff works with them.

On the topic of discs can someone advise whether or not it's possible to wind back the pistons without using VCDS as this seems to be a thing to do - and does it require a special tool?. I'm replacing the front struts and coils so would rather do the brakes too and have the whole job done in one go.

Personally I would avoid red stuff pads. Mine have gone crap and they were bedded in thoroughly before I gave them and harsh braking. After 5 hard presses now the whole car vibrates horrendously.
