One of the things I hated in the BMW is the bad attention. You are stereotypically a w***er and get more bad attention than good.
I never got anyone admiring the car like I do with the RS3, no one rolled down their window and started talking on the middle of the north circular either.
After quite a few BMW's over the years, including 6 "M" cars , the bad image of BMW drivers, sometimes deserved I am afraid, finally put me off the brand. I did consider a new M235i when i bought my current car but you know I am much happier I think with a more sedate image these days. And I don't think that is because I am older - I think the attitude of the whole country to people that drive "nice" cars, and I by that i mean fast, possibly beautiful looking ,and perhaps also a bright colour, has changed.
As has, to be honest, the whole BMW owning experience.
They are good , but not as good as the dealers think they are. They are quick to bad mouth any other manufacturer and seem so surprised that you , the person with the money, would choose to go elsewhere.
Oh and on a straight comparison I would rather have an RS3 or Golf R than an M3/M4. They have useable power day in day out whereas the M3/4 , and some other performance cars, can't convert their 400/500 bhp into a decent driving experience.
All imho of course
