So ...

Its a [fairly] well known fact that in a few days time I will no longer be the owner of the only Condor Grey RS3 in the UK. The harsh ride,  ageing tech (and my ageing back) , and the desire for one last new car before cutting back at work a bit has led me to the doors of VW. Ordered way back 1st September, had an extended test drive a week later in the dealer demo just to confirm,  and now delivery nearly here. Car number 49 ...

The demo car - on 18"s and a pretty basic spec. White I think my second choice

My car last week. Before PDI so sitting on transport blocks and the weather was crap - car part under cover part not.

Saturday its detail day (dealer not prepping the car) and Monday I collect.

I am not planning on leaving RS3OC forum (unless I am blackballed for non-Audi ownership) as its a great place to be with knowledgeable and helpful people and I hope I can still contribute, where I can. Maybe the new owner of ZXR will end up here!

I will be doing quite a few shows this year so will run into the usual suspects I guess at GTi Festival and other VAG events  :)

Enjoy your new car. Looking forward to seeing more photos when you pick up. That colour really suits the car.

While your RS3 was a wonderful and unique colour, only you know when it is time to change. I still have my car from the VW stable, and it still makes me smile!

I am sure the Golf R will fulfill your needs... Enjoy!

It will be interesting to hear your opinion once you get to grips with it. The R gets such good reviews, and I must admit I have considered one as a next car myself.

They are great cars, I feel they handle better than the s3 equivalent, even better with a remap 👍

The car felt quite flat to me, until we had a stage 1 revo on it T 👍

Not one for remaps myself.
One thing I will say in comparison to my old s3 against my mk2 RS3 - is that the S3 seemed more refined, smoother - the RS is much more raw - but that's probably the punchier 5 pot. Still getting used to the RS though as its a different animal.
S3 was the best motorway cruiser I have ever had !!

That's the way VAG programme their turbo charged engines: to produce a flat torque curve over a broad range. Reversing that decision is one of the main things tuners do with their remaps.

To be fair in the short time I had my mk1 I never got out of it and thought "God this car needs to be faster"

Goodness me someone who doesn't want a remap
What's up with you man ?

Most posts on here that involve a new car usually have the word remap somewhere in a second sentence

No remap for me. Perhaps a sports exhaust someway down the line but only to improve response and make a nice noise. The R is plenty fast enough as it is for general use.

If I had wanted a 400bhp car I would have bought a 911 Turbo ... oh hang on I had one of those before !!  ;)

It all pub talk In my eyes. But it's nice to have something different to another RS3 so I understand why people do it.

This q7 is plenty fast enough for the road 😂😂 6.5 to 60 !! It's a beast

I was starting to think that there were some tuner vouchers being handed out at collection .... in the same envelope as the Halfords ones ...

No remap here either. I feel that if 362bhp is not enough for the road, then nothing will be!
