New RS3 Update

Basically, Audi is now following Porsche's lead by underestimating the amount of available horsepower in its cars. So far, we've been told that the RS3 gets approximately 360 bhp, but since no journalist has test driven the car yet, no one outside Audi has verified the car's true output. The real figure is apparently more, if not in excess of 380 bhp.
I trust my source who says this lack of definitive info is to head-off AMG. Whatever upgrade the AMG A45 gets, the RS3 will trounce it. We will know for sure in May.

Equally could argue that they are inclined to say that to keep RS3 customers from not ordering one / cancelling orders and looking at an A45. Double edged sword.

I'm getting a bit fed up of waiting for official definite information and not forum gossip and it didn't help matters driving an RS4 the other day.

I didn't get where I am today by being patient! If I wanted to be patient I'd drive a renault diesel van and wait for bits of wood to stick to other bits of wood LOL.

I think that's intriguing information. The mistake from Audi was saying ordering books would be open on xxx date. However, let's not all get our knickers in a twist. It's coming, and if you're lucky enough to be ordering one, then that's something to smile about.
I would really like to see an excess of 380bhp. Post market launch remapping gains will likely be less though for owners - as iany hike in power now would most probably be achieved with engine management software changes, rather than hardware at this stage in the project.
I've just about to take delivery of an A3 Sportback S Line, S-Tronic, Quattro, 184 TDI. I'll be planning to swap out in two years with the new RS3, when hopefully all the flaws are fixed, all the spec options are available, and Orangewheels have some healthy discounts available.
BTW - I ordered my car through them. Fantastic, and a massive bloody saving!

I'm also a multi-millionaire technical director of a high-tech software company if that's what you wanted to know. Just about to retire at 50. Because I can. My dad was a cabinet maker so I might take up veneering..
And I thought you owned two RS3s?

I personally don't believe Audi would play around with the engine now, and a last minute ecu upgrade isn't there style !
However I'm sure the engine was tested at more hp and data was stored so anythings possible. But I reckon the most likely case is RS3 hits the uk in July / august and the RS3 plus one year later with around 395 bhp and a £46k starting price

Guys, of course the RS3?order book is open. If you want one, all you have to do is put down a deposit. This will secure you a place in the queue and you can confirm the spec when you get a build week. In London at least we were told order March for July delivery. Nothing has changed. It was the same back in 2011 with the Gen 1 Model and pre-launch interest was off the scales.
As you say "It was the same back in 2011 with the Gen 1 Model and pre-launch interest was off the scales" what you fail to say is how late the car actually was and Audi's poor timescale .
