What we looking at roughly then:

Base: 44,800

Recaro's: £2000

Panoroof : £1000

Autolights/mirrors : £300

Sports pack £1500+

Ceramics £4000

Bose £750

Nav/Telephone prep £350

By my maths thats £54700,  Even un-speccing Ceramics which are lush but 100% overkill for a daily then it's still in a over £50k for anything with reasonable spec.

Don't like the new shape. Hate the interior. However, most interested if new parts will retrofit the 8P chassis. 8 Pot front callipers and brake rotors perhaps?

Audi RS3 8P 2011: Phantom Black, Retrofit genuine Audi black grille. Mods: Milltek Decat pipes, Bilstein B16 Coilovers with 034 Motorsport top mounts. Superpro front control arms, Powerflex Gearbox & Dogbone mount inserts, 034 Motorsport Rear ARB, 034 Motorsport Front & Rear Drop Links. Reyland 370mm front brake rotors.

Ive made the right choice with the MK1.

I dont like the 8V interior, loath the cheap looking pop up screens on the later Audi's  and couldnt justify the costs even if i liked it.

it might grow on me, but it will be when its depreciated!

With a Spec like that think you would need a decent Colour and styling pack so probably need to add another £1K

New Audi RS4 - £56500.   Orangewheels New Audi RS4 - £49000.  That's a nice discount, and thankfully it's not a limited edition otherwise much less savings would be possible.

PS. Mac D - Have you been told the official RS3 price of £44800 then?

Does anyone think that the new RS4 looks much better when you're stood infront of one, than looking at pictures?  So many cars do, and I remain positive that the new RS3, in the right colour combinations will win some hearts.

Surprised at the lack of welcome on the forum to the new model.  A typically British response.  We're a tough crowd to please!  ;)

Not sure If I like the bird.  'It's not agressive enough'.  I preferred the 'Jurassic look' of the Teradactyls'. Don't like progression or change.

;) - Car looks awesome!!

I have to admit this look pretty good, also that aluminium coloured thing (in the red RS3 pictures) looks miles better in black.

When I was behind MacD's RS4 on the motorway, the thing which struck me most was the rear flared wheel arches. The RS3 lacks that kind of drama, unfortunately.

I remember what attracted me to the 8P in the first place.  Lot's of things, but one of the key ingredients that would have been a deal breaker is that 2.5, 5 cylinder.   Totally unique and brilliant.  Gorgeous sound and power delivery.  Actually, 4 cylinder engines just do not excite me anymore, at all.  And as good as V8's are, so many high performance cars have them.

Thankfully, we've still got the 5 cylinder in the 8V.  Now that's something to be happy about.

I wish Audi would just do something a bit bonkers.  Like my last car, a Mk 2 Clio V6.  Crazy concept, pointless, flawed yet hugely special and brilliant.  Look at the new TT Cup.  Can you imagine how cool something looking like that, limited edition in numbers, for the road would be and how it would shift Audi's image?  So, I don't think the new RS3 needs anything else.   But perhaps Audi just need to go a bit crazy somewhere in their product line up once in a while.

I agree, sometimes bonkers is brilliant, i also like audis aunderstated cars aswell sometimes. All the new one needs is flared arches for me, the rest is down to personal choice and spec choice at the end of the day. Bringing in the nardo grey is a winner though im very happy with that

I like the new RS3 and no doubt it will be better than the old one. That being said it will be interesting to know what the production numbers will be like, I think the fact that there is only 750 in the UK for the 8p definitely does it for me and one of the reasons I am considering an RS3 instead of a used rs4 or rs5.

The new RS3 is not enough of an upgrade for me as already said the MK1 RS3 seemed like a bit of a prototype but that's kind of part of its charm. The MKII does appear to be what the MKI should have been though.

Now A3 clubsport Quattro that I would swap for.

I wonder once the price comes out if that alone will limit numbers, not only that but i spose it will limit some people on spec, so high specced ones should hopefully still be a bit rare :-)

Let's be honest they struggled to sell the current model, 500 sold like hot cakes the last 250 didn't.

Having said that there was a rumour about cancelled orders as customers got fed up of waiting and it got slated in the motoring press.

This one gets a good review but will people pay the extra money? Price alone might keep it exclusive.

IMHO the base price will be kept similar to the old RS3, just under £40,000 base.  The base A45 AMG is currently £38,200 and Audi seem to want to match or better that car with everything !

The base S3 is around £31,000.

The biggest change for me will be the new MQB chassis which should provide much better handling based on the current S3 and Golf R reviews.  The  reduced weight will also help. We'll have to wait for the road tests to confirm that though.

Looks wise it was always going be fairly similar to the existing A3 model IMHO.

I'm switching back to a new Golf R in March, but may well come back to the RS3 in two years !  I'm going to miss that 5-pot engine for sure.

The forums always seem to knock new models when they are first announced, mainly on the looks.  But once they are out for a year or two opinions will be a lot different, especially if they are good to drive.

I agree on price, a few places ive tead they want to rival the A45 so a base rate at that allows 10-12k of descent extras to get round the 50+ mark which is fine
