Hi folks,

It breaks my heart each time I look at my car and see the rusty brake hubs on a less than 4 year old car. I have searched this forum for hours and decided on a plan I think. Rears are dead easy, got a set of Brembo pads already for cheap from eurocarparts and will replace the discs with either Brembo coated or Rotinger for around £100 + delivery.

The fronts confuse me as where I am buying the Rotingers from a very helpful shop on Ebay they say the fronts on mine are two piece so its maybe my misunderstanding that two piece mean floating? Mine look like one piece?

Second and final question. Love the look of the Reyland fronts so would like to go with their Floating upgrade as I assume you just need to change the actual disc (when needed) instead of the whole thing which is why the cost is £595 for bolted or £745 for floating but I can't see anywhere you can just buy the disc so whats the benefit, apart from heat saving, of going for floating?

Thanks and sorry for another brake post.

Yours are one piece. Disc and bell are pinned together at Audi.

Reyland sell discs on their own to bolt onto their own bells.. I know I bought some.

The advantages with a floating disc set up is it allows the rota to expand when it gets very hot without distorting.

If using only on the road two piece fixed discs will suffice but if you intend to do the odd trackday or very heavy on the brakes two piece floating are the way to go.

I'm running Reyland floating on the front with two piece fixed at the rear with track use pads to match.

Dell.

Thanks Gents. The Reyland website isn't particularly friendly but 0120Raptor made me take another look so found the 370mm x 34mm rotors for £340 as I am planning on keeping the car another four years and I have destroyed the standard brakes in less than four so £745 for the kit then another £340 in 3-4 years when I knacker these up too seems a no brainer.

@Dell what pads are you running on the front as Reyland say they don't recommend the use of DS2500s on the discs as some customers had bedding in issues and uneven wear?

I've run 2500s and incounted the pad build up which causes vibration with the Reylands which didn't bother me too much as once they've had a hard brake it would go away.

I'm now running PBSs all round but the front do squeal slightly when hot while creepy forward in stop/start traffic quiet otherwise.
I found the PBSs much more to my liking than the 2500s for road/track use Inc in the wallet.

Brake pads like tyres they're a personal thing.

Did they say what pads they recommend now then? I had a look on their site and the DS2500 still seem to be the ones that they're selling with all their brake kits.

Seb.

When I spoke to Martin's wife she told me they wasn't recommending any make of pads at that time but thing may have changed so give them a bell.

Ah, I guess that's the safest standpoint to take haha. I've never really had any issues with my Reyland disks and DS2500's other than that they like to stick a bit if the car has been stood for a while. I'll give them a ring when it's time to refresh the pads.

Spending too much money on the RS3 this month as it is. Lots of bushes need renewing. She's an old girl now haha.

The sticking 2500s is a normal thing usually after washing & then not driving it.

Funny the PBSs do likewise even though they are ceramic based & totally different to the 2500s.

Thanks for all the advice especially from Dell for answering my daft PM's. I can't believe how lovely the Reylands are in the flesh. Will post some before and after pics when they are fitted end of this month.

They do look good, top of the list when the originals on mine wear out. Not doing enough miles on mine at the moment to get there any time soon

Went for the PBS ProRace on the front and Brembos on the rear in the end. Might have also slipped in H&R rear ARB too so need to stop spending on the car and buy the Wife something!
