So having a look about I see MRC have a dealer in Leeds which is about 1 hour 40 from me. Quoted 950 for stage 1 Inc dsg map.

Out of interest I contacted MRC themselves. They seem to offer 50% off the dsg map so actually come out cheaper!

Would have thought pricing would be the same!

Id ring your local dealer and see if they can price match.

So this is now more like a 'probably not going stage 2' thread think I'll be going stage 1 to see how I get on.

Options below, appreciate some thoughts on them, some mentioned already:
1. Racingline stage 1 ECU and TCU
2. Revo stage 1 and TVS driveability TCU
3. MRC stage 1 ECU and TCU (from CM tuning in Leeds)
4. Custom stage 1 ECU and TCU from the Performance Centre in Sunderland, my local tuner

1. Matched ECU and TCU, free upgrades for life and TCU lasts to stage 3
2. This probably ticks the most boxes in that it gives me the exhaust flaps open in sport where racingline doesnt, I also don't really need faster shifts just a better drive so TVS ticks that. However there's potentially more cost if I then decide to go stage 2
3. MRC software but a generic map like the others and as understand it CM tuning don't have a dyno, also have to travel a little for this
4. Have had a staff RS3 for a couple of years and very competitive at £549 for stage 1 and TCU. Popped down today and had a lengthy chat with the guys down there. Step dad has a stage 1 on his Macan there and was impressed.

Thoughts?

I think MRC and Revo are both good. I would never get a tune where the car isn’t put on the dyno and tweaked unless they have an experienced programmer who can carry this out whilst driving. I did this with an Autronics stand alone ecu years ago with MA Developments and it’s not for the faint hearted.

Custom tunes can be good but you need to research their experience in VAG cars and if they have mapped your model RS3 with evidence.

Hi I have bought the Infinit performance intercooler (good for up to 550bhp) and the hunted eBay for the best deal on the turbo inlet hard pipe and the silicone outlet pipe. Haven’t fitted them yet. I have installed a K&N air filter.
Some one I know has fitted the above and mapped with APR stage 1+ at JM imports got 517bhp but fitted the ITG air filter.

I am looking to get the parts fitted at Falcon Motorsports.
But not sure what map to go for or were as yet, thinking the revo map.

That’s a really high figure without having the stage 2 map and DP. I think the figures become a bit meaningless when different tuners have different figures for the same specs. I saw a stage 1 getting 500hp at Litchfield and getting 480hp on another dyno. They were worried they were losing power but it was just dyno differences. The real test is how it drives on the road and if you’re happy with the tune.
I haven’t seen an infinity IC before so I’ll be interested to see how it all goes.

Rumour has it they're the same intercooler that floats around ebay for £300 just infinit branded. Apparently a few do have them on here and perform well. Copy of the wagner Evo1.
