Half correct, as stock the RS has an EGT model which is an estimated reading. I am referring to an actual reading with one sensor on each manifold port plus one in the collector, so you can tune each cylinder individually. Now this can be done using the stock ecu using DS1 and an EGT to CAN box but is not as simple as doing it on the Syvecs which already has all the tables in place ready for it to be tuned.

As we have a cast manifold that's how it is but on a tubular one that would be the case if need be.

So your saying the stock set up is only a estimate reading of the turbo egt ?

Even on a hybrid with a cast manifold, you can tap it for an egt probe which quite a few people stateside have done to get a true reading. Yes the stock setup is a calculated estimate not an actual true EGT reading like you get with an aftermarket probe.

Just a bit of info I've found out in regards the egt it isn't an estimate reading It's a reading that's correct within 10c, it reads on average 800ms.

Problem is the likes of obd2 is only showing you the basic the same on vcds.

The egt has several types, and in the Audi world they use 3-4 different styles but all have the same protocol, trigger at 940c for safety.
Some read 900-1140c newer read -40 1150c

Hi Ben

Where syvecs is ahead is that it allows you to add additional sensors like EGT, coolant pressure and such a lot easier than the oem ecu but you're correct it is easier to tune than the oem ecu for someone less experienced on this platform. The logger for the DS1 is just as good if not better than the Syvecs.

I agree there are lots of inputs on the Syvecs for controllability like fuel temp and even connectivity to the WMI. With extra inputs comes extra control because greater data means issue prediction is easier.

The exhaust has had the rear silencers modified so it isn’t as loud. It is still loud but not stupid loud like before.
2500 miles in and the engine is spot on. Next month I’m back to do a few tuning tweets and add the race fuel map. I’ll do it just to see what it’s like but I’m more than happy with the performance as it is.
I haven’t had a lot of time to drive lately due to work being very busy and a couple of new ventures. Being on the Solent I’m also into boats and looking at a new edItion shortly. I have to sell my current one as I already have that, the RS3 and a Land Rover. The wife isn’t moaning too much because at least I’m no longer into motorbikes. :-)

How did it go with the tweaks and any figures on the race fuel map?

Sadly due to a few family issues it didn’t happen snd I had to cancel the session. Running spot on and looking to get it booked in soon. I dropped it off last week at Brook Racing Exhausts to have the rear silencers altered on the inconel exhaust as still a bit too loud.
Next month I have the Mot and full service so I book in for after that so I know it has fresh oil and everything has been checked over.
I’ve only done 500 miles since November due to work and having spent time selling my boat and buying a new one.

Ha, life gets in the way sometimes! Did you get wavetracs front and rear? Be curious to hear what you think of them as it is one thing I have thought about.
