Unicorn remapping

I've not been that active on here - I usually spend time reading however!
Has anybody used unicorn and what did you think?
I've seen that mrc seem to be the go-to place but they're further away so was put off that idea.
Thanks
Alex

I had an Audi 2.0 TDI many years ago. It was remapped by a reputable tuner but had an annoying problem. I took it back to him 5 times .He never sorted it 100%. Decided to try Unicorn. Ric phoned the other tuner to ask him for his password for the remap. He refused to tell Ric. No problem Ric said and promptly found the password and deleted it. Ultra clever guy. He diagnosed the problem straightaway. Apparently there was a hidden menu in the ECU that few people knew about. He changed just one number in the menu. Problem sorted. I was so impressed with that I went back to get his own remap . Car was so much better afterwards. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the input,
I've heard good things about Rick in general and have noticed he seems to be one of the people to go to with such as the 2.0tfsi and the bmw's
I've just never seen anything RS3/ttrs mapped by them and there's literally nothing on Google where somebody has had the above mapped by him - it just makes you wonder if things have gone wrong (issues with the car) or hardware problems that have caused things to sour so nothing mentioned about him having mapped it and the owner taking it somewhere else afterwards (I've heard of an issue with a hybrid turbo which failed) but can't actually find any mention of it using google-fu

I had my RS3 remapped there in Jan this year and the service was great and the car is a completely different monster now.
I have got some hardware mods and he mapped the car to get the most out of the mods that I have.
Would definitely recommend them.

I was going to say 'Let the tuner wars rage!' but, to be honest, this isn't the place for it as every opinion should be free to be expressed. We can all decide on the merits.

What seems to be the problem with Rick and Unicorn? Once i've got everything in place such as intercooler and downpipe then i'll be looking to go stage 1/2 and thought Rick had some good reviews or am I wrong?
I would head over to MRC but i'm based in the North East and its just too far for me to travel down there.
Stupher10 - Did you get a graph printout or anything with your remap? What power are you running now?
Manchester is about an hour and half away from me so is pretty ideal but I'd want to know he does a good job with the RS's

Hi Rob,
I did get a printout but currently away at work so no access to post it on here.
I had a good experience but obviously can't speak for others.
Mine is running airtec intercooler, 2nd cat delete, intake and cat back exhaust system and is now running 410Bhp & 465ft/lb.
The car seems to run smoother throughout the range and obviously a big difference when you plant the right foot.
I chose Rick due to reviews I'd read on here and other forums and due to his location as again he was an hour from where I live.
He had the car on the dyno for 3.5hrs doing multiple runs and tweaking the map keeping me involved the whole time so I feel like I had a good experience. I am no expert on mapping but was a better experience than when I have previously had cars mapped and I'm more than happy with the end result.

Ric is very good at what he does.
You’ll be in good hands with him.
