Evening all.

Two or 3 times a month ill scan my 2013 RS3 8P for faults using Carista and so far so good up until today when up popped 2 faults.

Engine: P1946 - Control Module 1 for cooling fan, faulty.

Heater & air conditioning - 65535

From a search online, I have read that the electric fans are kaput and need replacing, is this true?

I am assuming that the error 65535 is related to the P1946 error as from what I've read, the fans are related to the heater/aircon system.

Most things mechanical I am very handy with and can do myself but things electrical etc I am useless.

Has anyone else had this or know anything about these errors?

Cheers!

Rob.

I had problems with my Aircon & had the fan control module errors ,so I change the fan unit as that's where the module lives.
The module has a input from the Aircon to ramp up the fan when it works hard.

Dell you are a top man! Much appreciated mate.

Now...Where's the best place to buy this fan? Do I need both or just the one with is saying module 1? Is it an easy DIY job?

Cheers mate  :up_it:

I bought a new oem off eBay but it was an old spec one @ £95 new from TPS £250.

Just need the main one with the module on it as that controls the slave one.

4 bolt 2 near the top & 2 near the bottom & deconnect the metal pipe running across the top, the top nearside is a bit awkward likewise the bottom driverside.

Remove from the bottom with the RS up high.

I've had a look on autodoc also but there is about 10 different variants, all with different diameters, rated power etc..

Cheers!

Dell,

What jack are you using in the picture above? I need something similiar and with the fan ordered I'll need to order some better and higher ramps (previously just using wood).

Cheers

All Sorted with the fan Dell, Cheers! All went well and pretty straight forward albeit one bolt is quite hard to access.  :up_it: .

Where did you get the adaptors for the 350mm discs at the rear? Are the discs a direct bolt on etc? Look great!

Rob.

As you said you was mechanically minded i didn't think your have any problems baring the fixing bolt as I did.

The adaptor brackets come as a kit with the Reyland discs & there a straight bolt on baring reaming out of the 2 fixing bolt holes on the caliper brackets & refacing the same, you can send there to Reylands to do FOC.

When I had the 8p I also had the 350 reylands with Ds2500 pads. My only criticism was the pad wipe was a bit far out, leaving a 5mm rusty ring around the edge near the bells, so when I go down this route again on my FL i will treat that area of the disc prior to fitting to see if that helps the aesthetics.

Considering the discs are cast iron & the bells can't come right up to the edge of where the pad wipes your criticism is not a real world one tbh.

Yeah obvs the pad cant sit against the bell but it could certainly sit closer, so maybe there is a slight sizing adjustment that could be made. Many people complain about rusty rear hubs, so aesthetics are important.

Good brakes like Reylands more so in my book.
