Thought it wasn't possible to get such cars back on the road again without having it logged as Cat C etc?

When money is concerned John I imagine it’s easier than you’d think.
To say the new ‘MOT’ wasn’t bent is an understatement.

The old Cat A had to be crushed Cat B had to be broken for spares Cat C & D could be repaired & would be recorded so.
If the car was never registered as a total lost as this RS may have been it wouldn't show up on any type of HPI check.
As for the MOT once repaired the MOT tester may have never known it's pasted or in this case never seen the RS if you get my drift.

The car must have been sold by the owner that damaged it, and never told the insurance company
I remember a white 8V being launched in a car park at an RS3 ‘meet’.
11K of repairs then a few months later it was traded in at a dealers.
Damage / accident was never disclosed either.
Imagine being the innocent guy parting with 40k for it thinking it had never been in a crash.

O/T but in my Impreza days you had to be so careful buying a Jap import even from dealers as (a) they had no UK service history or any history at all ( often they were crash damaged cars repaired on the cheap then sold on. I remember getting in one that smelt of mould and seemed to have moss growing in it; fairly sure it had been submerged in water at some point!

I hear sushi is popular over there. Maybe they got a bit carried away in it.
