It would be helpful for a start if you, and other insurers would recognise the Autowatch Ghost as a valuable car security tool - there is a reason that nearly everyone here has fitted one and I struggle to understand why this is not recognised by insurers?
Come back with an answer to that one and we can all start talking mate.

The reason insurance companies don't recognise AWG as it can't get Thatcham approval due to the Bluetooth pairing to Iphones to disarm it.

You'd have to be mad to use that feature imho! The reason insurance companies don't recognise AWG as it can't get Thatcham approval due to the Bluetooth pairing to Iphones to disarm it.

Guys, Thatcham testing and approval methods are based on old technology (lots of wires), not new CANBUS technology. They have no procedures to test AWG type systems at this time, hence they will not give approval. BTW, the OEM Alarm / Immobilisers are Thatcham approved, yet we all have to spend more money to secure our vehicles with systems such as Ghost. A little ironic don’t you think.

Insurance Co acknowledge our RSs have a Thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser system.
You only have to look at the vulnerability with the latest car with there advanced door opening systems to understand the problem with having an immobiliser system which can be disarmed via a local device such as a smartphone app via Bluetooth.
Btw AWG is wired into the canbus using wires so no different to any other immobiliser system.

Agreed.
Not sure of the value of Thatcham Approved, when any car now with keyless systems is so vulnerable. To be honest the discounts for having Thatcham approved immobilisers is next to nothing anyway.
My preference is prevention; and to my limited knowledge, no AWG equipped car has been stolen (unless towed).
The App for AWG is optional, not a necessity, and as stated, why would you use it, when Bluetooth is notoriously unsecure.

When Thatcham test a security system they do it without the keys/remotes in there possession.
With the onset of keyless entry/start system which are now compromise by using a relay device.
As for why people would want to pair there phone to the AWG you only need to see the postings of "Why can't i get my phone to do this/that in my new RS".
