If its Blackvue they recommend formatting via the app https://www.blackvue.com/downloads/

 

If you plan on alternating between cards set it up how you like it once installed and then copy the four folders from the SD Card (Config, record, application and system). Keep a copy of these four folders on a PC or laptop and after formatting copy these folders back onto the SD card. Just saves a bit of time setting it back up again.
