Looks like the garage forgot to reset my service counter as I had the car serviced last month and this morning it's just popped up telling me its time for a service.

Can the counter be reset with a regular OBD11 device or do you need to use VCDS etc?

Cheers.

Edit: Should probably mention that it's  bit of a trek back to the place I get it serviced just for a counter reset hence why I'm seeing if it can be done without that.

Are you sure it's not the 2 year inspection service that popped up ? As that's a separate one to the oil service.

I use VCDs to reset my services but OBD11 can also be used.

If I remember on the 8P you can reset the oil change interval but the inspection (Ala 19800 service) needs either VCDS / OBD11 or alike.

Pretty sure it's the service one and not the oil change one but I'll double check when I go back to the car.

But if OBD11 can reset it then that should be ok as I can get my hands on one of those devices.

Your probably correct in regards the inspection service.

You can reset the oil service via the dash but it's the fixed 12months 10k & not the AVS one.

Sean & Jay.

You use to be able to reset the service light for fixed service's via the trip knob on my old 05 plate 3.2.

Wither that is still the case on ours i don't know as i like both of you reset mine using VCDs.

Had a check and it's the service one. The oil one has been reset and is reading correctly so I'll try and get someone to reset the main counter for for me.  :)
