Found out there was a revised coil pack for 2018 onwards models.

Decided after some searching online to purchase these from ECS.

Have you been having misfires / rough idle then Sean?

Not as such, but Iā€™m a sucker for a red head......
I do wonder what the reason behind tuners like MRC etc swapping them on remapped cars, when I checked on the parts database the revision was from 3/2018 onwards.

Iā€™ll report back once they arrive and Iā€™ve had a chance to see if thereā€™s a difference.

Coil pack swap is a gimmick!!

Same as the spark plugs! I am on stock plugs and coils running 2bar of boost for nearly 12 months now, no issues at all.

Lets see how you get on mate. Isn't it a bit of a bastard to get to cylinders 3 - 5?

Not really ED

Piece of cake, granted not as straight forward as the earlier engine, but itā€™s only nuts and bolts

It could be for nought but I tend to over service my cars anyway, look after the car and itā€™ll look after you especially with the Mighty JB4 fitted (soon to be upgraded).

Always a man of mystery Sean.

If you are looking for a new home for the second hand, old, used, tatty and very cheap JB4 bear me in mind.

FYI if you want them to work correctly the ECU needs coding as firing signal time is different to stock! But as you say lucky I'm not fitting them.

What's your point?

Red top is from NA engines there signal is different by milliseconds, they will work fine still but will make zero performance enhancements and also will actually burn out quicker due to not calibration with ECU....

No point.......

Had red top coils on both my 8P and 8V PFL cars.

I never said theyā€™d give any performance enhancement.

Well they arrived today after being ordered on Friday (very speedy delivery)
Just fitted them.

Will report back if they are worse/same/better etc.

No ECU calibrations required as they are same part number just revision ā€˜Lā€™ I verified this with ECS and someone else today.
