Are they worth doing on the RS3 or not really much difference and better putting the money into discs and pads?

I’d go discs and pads first.
Then if that isn’t enough do the braided lines after.
I'm with T-800 as the stock line's do there job & you get better feel with them tbh.

I have HEL front line's which came with the recently acquired 8pots but don't think I'll be fitting them at this time.

Disks first all day long. The pads will destroy themselves in fairly short order and the Ferrodo ones are the way to go I understand.
At 15,000 miles with 2 trackdays under my belt I imagine I will be in the market for both soon.

If you looking at pads for road and track have a look at Pagids or Carbotech.
Carbptech XP8's were what I used on my Evo, similar power and weight to RS and they were great. Only downside was there were a bit dusty
