Tyres

I do feel at some points on a bumpy road under acceleration the car is pulling this way and that from the front - not sure if it is due to the wider tyres or just the fact it’s haldex
Cheers

4 people and luggage the rears could catch on the bodywork. I imagine it was cheaper for Audi to just put 225s on the
rear instead of altering the chassis. I had 235s all round on my 8P and never once did they catch.I suppose it depends
on the actual tyre make.Mine were Michelins.
Catalunya Red ,Heated rear window,Power steering,Wireless (with FM),Seat belts,Servo assisted brakes.Pneumatic tyres. Disc brakes.

It`s a little known fact that the 8P was originally designed with 235s all round. However under certain conditions ie

Indeed it is a little known fact, I had no idea!!
Yeah I’ve got Michelin Pilot Super Sport on at the moment but checked the tread today and they are getting low! Im thinking of going for the PS4S as people seem to rave about them

Here’s one that I’m running currently.
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport
New tyre released in April this year.
I’m on 235/35/19” all round. (8.5V chassis though)
They are a direct competitor to the Michelin’s.
They aren’t as square on the shoulder as the Michelin’s which I like.
Great tyre though and I used to run the 255 fronts but certainly do not miss them.

You at least get the value out of your rubber Graham! You should be good to go for Monday mind - I may have to bring along some drawing pins to slow you down!

Haven’t bothered trying since 034 arb ( can’t see it changing anything when it was rubbing on compression.
Apparently there is also a screw under the arch liner that can rub but I’ve not looked for it .

Mine rubbed like a biatch on the extension spats, on undulating roads .

Paul.
What suspension & tyre set up are your running mate ?
I have 235 19s alround with B14s running stock ride height at the rear with a 20mm drop at the front with not problems.

Hi Dell.
Standard suspension, rear 034 arb fitted after I tried 235’s and rubbed .
that was way back in 2016. The cars only done 28k miles now in 2019.
always Michelin. The rubbing was on MPSS ( 235 - still on my spare 8.0J’s)
although I’m on MPS4 all round now. 255F 8.5J / 225R 8.0J
rubbing was on undulating a/b roads at reasonable pace not racing about. No load , no passengers.
It just scuffed. Actually enough to rub the outer edges of both the tyres. Took away the enjoyment of driving it, due to the worry.
4 wheel alignment etc also all perfect.
found some pictures in an old email when I was discussing it...

Here you go ... I think it's rubbed on the plastic spat. The toothy too bit at the top No damage to the the spat, liner or more importantly paint. You can see the witness mark on the rad of the tyre. Less obvious on pic 1 as the car is sat lower that side at the minute due to where it’s parked , but does show how the wheel tucks up inside the arch

Paul.
Your rear dampers may be shot as i have had diving kit in mine & never had that even coming off speed bumps/ramps.
I did have the same with my A3 3.2 running our set up but with a ET 35mm wheel.
Replaced the rear dampers & sorted it mate.
