So i had a full service today and have being told i have leak coming from my timing chain cover??? Its was all over my undertray as well so it most have being there a few month's. Anyway ive being quoted around £2700 to repair it depending on exactly where its coming from as i am told its a big job and needs the engine and gear box out. ☹️☹️ the joys of RS ownership.
Cheers,

They`re pulling the wool over your eyes. The cover is in two halves .They seal with sealer ,no gaskets.Top one is quite easy to replace.Really straightforward. The bottom one needs the gearbox and flywheel removing to gain access to it. There is no way the engine needs to be removed. I can`t see removing to reseal both would take more than a day. Ask them for a breakdown. Make sure when the flywheel is refitted it gets a new diamond coated washer.

Either way £2700 would only be the case if they where changing timing chains, tensioners, vvt pulleys and labour.
To resolve the leaks worst case would be around £600

Yes that is correct with all parts changing i believe yes. Would you not recommend all these parts to change if they are going to be removed buddy.

I`d get them to verify it is actually the covers leaking first. This seems highly unlikely. It`s metal to metal contact with sealer in between. It`s much more likely to be a seal ie transfer box ,driveshafts, flywheel.
