Hi guys

So yesterday I had 2 new rear Michelin’s put on mine.

I’ve been running 235/35/19 all round for past 2 years and no problems. Same size have been put on again yesterday...

Last night we were on our way home from a meal and car went into limp mode (this is after circa 20 miles since the tyres were replaced.

In addition to Limp mode the car also shows the following dash lights:

EPC light
Engine Management light
Traction control light

On the screen it’s reading ‘Stability Control Failure visit workshop’

The car is currently with the neighbour at his local garage. The car has been scanned and is showing the following faults (I don’t have the codes as I’m not there)

1. Throttle body sensor
2. ABS sensor
3. Fuel pressure sensor

Anyone knowledgable who could shed some light on possible problem? Any and all advice appreciated

For it to go into limp home mode i would say one of the fuel pressure sensors is playing about or failed as for the other 2 faults they may have been there before this event.

If scanned by vcds there will be time/day stamps also did any of these faults reappear after they were cleared ?

Sometime ago i had the yellow do not exceed 4000rpms warning appear which went after switching the ignition off,i later scanned with vcds & it showed intermittent/ implausible signal on the high pressure fuel sensor which never came back but i replaced it all the same.

Hope this is of help.

If it’s the ABS sensor that’s the issue (most likely if they have been in around the wheels) this could cause an issue with EPC as it uses the ABS sensors as part of its data input. Bare with me here, could it be this that is causing the traction control to cut in aggressively causing the low fuel pressure and throttle body position issue?

With vcds it will tell you what abs sensor is faulty also you can drive about & watch the output from each abs sensor as the wheels rotate.

Best thing to-do is to clear codes and see what comes back.

Also what fuel do you run? Reason I ask is you seem to be unlucky with fuel faults popping up.

Also I can not see how some one fitting your tyres has any reason to touch or go any where near a abs sensor, imo if they did the fault would be present within the first 20 yards or so.

I never said anyone touched anything or went near anything. Only putting an idea out there that something during the tyre changing process could have disturbed an ABS cable for example, highlighting an underlying issue. With the information given every single one of us is stabbing in the dark no matter what we say imo 😂

Ok problem fixed. It was the Crankshaft sensor that needed replacing. Thank you for all your advice

Well you can say I did get it right! As I did state I can not see it being an ABS fault from a tyre change. Secondly I didn't really put much guess work out just a bit of advice.

I'm going to give you some advice to, being rude to people on a public forum actaully makes yourself look a bellend. So maybe on a Saturday evening while you are drinking stay away from the keyboard. I here it can turn you into a right warrior.

Ok. . .cheers for the advice but I’ll pass thanks. Don’t drink so just saying it as I see it. Love your business model by the way, come on the biggest forum for your customer base and try and be as condescending as possible to as many people as possible to inflate your already over inflated ego.

One of many things i can say about Ben as i've meet him & his family on a open day at his place of business is HE DOESN'T HAVE AN EGO full stop !

His helpful without being big headed & we have had many a conversion via WhatsApp about problems with the RS3s & life in general.

1 thing which really pisses me off is people posting a problem before getting proper diagnostic carried out 1st.

Fault finding on these modern day cars is a nightmare even with good diagnostic equipment.

All including myself have posted with the best of intentions advice & not hit the spot !

Mark I am unsure why you have such a issue with us, and keep banging on about my ego. All I have done from day one is show what we can do and help were possible. If that is a big ego then So be it.

I refuse to get into a big old slagging match, if you have a genuine problem and not just an opnion against me then by all means call my office 01827 283 208 and I am happy to resolve any issues you may have.
