Having owned my first Audi and the RS3 for over a year now I seemed to have inherited lower back trouble, something I've never suffered with in my life before and I've played golf for over 30 years!

I've spoken with several friends who have been Audi saloon and sport-back owners and there does seem to be a trend with a few of them, suffering with lower back issues. The compelling point is when they change to the other German manufacturers, their back ailments have significantly improved.

Am I imagining this or has anyone else experienced similar or knows of someone who has?

Thanks

Graham.

The standard seats not the wing back. Does that make any difference?

Over the course of a few years i've heard a handful of people say it's given them a bad back.

Not sure if it's the car or you may need to try another seating position?   The pedals tend to be more off set than other brands so perhaps it's just this :(

Different seats have different levels of adjustment available :)

Personally I have the power seats in my car and find them very good for long journeys, which I do on a regular basis.

Step 1 is to try different adjustments to your seats and see if that helps, because step 2 would be new seats or new car...

I have had a bad back for quite a while now, due to back curvature of the spine and shoulders as a teenager.

It doesn't matter if I am driving my RS3 8P, or a passenger on my Mum's Ford Focus. I have yet to find a car or seat that doesn't give me problems.

I have heard that most, if not all German built cards will give you some back problems due to tyres/suspension/seats etc.

I have previously had the Audi Mk II TT with standard tyres and seats, and also BMW Z3 and before that the Rover 25 and Ford Fiesta.

From memory I can only remember having back problems since moving on to the BMW, then the Audi's.

Usually when driving I am ok over a short distance, say an hours non stressed driving. A long car journey on a Motorway or A Road and I always need a break as my back is in agony by 2 hours into the journey.

Whereas when I was very young when we used to go on holiday we never used to stop at the Service Station and we could drive for hours without my back being an issue.

Maybe I should look to buy a 1980's Vauxhall Cavalier as this is what my Dad used to drive when I was younger  :D
