Hi and welcome

When you say version, do you mean genuine or software number?

Ben

George.

Are you using a genuine VCDs lead & how old is it ? If like mine its a genuine but a very old one it don't support some of the functions on newer vag cars due to the amount of data they have.

Also if your computer or whatever you using doesn't have enough ram or the clock speed is too slow that won't help.

The newest leads which are faster & support the newer vag cars now come with licences which have a number of vehicle limitations or you can get the unlimited one at a premium.

Dell.

My tuppence

If you are running an 8P RS3 and have no plans to use it on any other cars a good used VCDS interface maybe a cheaper option.
Just please don’t buy the cloned versions because you don’t know how they have been programmed and could easily screw up your modules.

You can of course go buy the latest V2 Hex, just bear in mind it comes in 3 / 10 / unlimited Chassis user options.

All depends on what you want to spend really.

Oh and you need to update it regularly

Clones usually only run a lower software version that is never updated.

These newer cars are advancing all the time and the Ross Tech updates reflect that.

Good supplier here https://www.ilexa.co.uk

Cheapest is £225 using 3 VINS
https://www.ilexa.co...-HEX-V2-Ent3VIN

Unlimited VINS V2 Hex £450
https://www.ilexa.co...V2-UnlimitedVIN

Current VCDS V2 Hex is running 18.9.

Took the opportunity and sold my genuine vcds lead hex usb + can on eBay for more than I paid for it.
They command crazy money, and was more than a official trade in and flaff sending back to the US.

It will easily cover cost of a new Hex-V2.

Told you Dell, £200 was easily achieved when I sold mine last year.

The older unlimited interfaces are sought after because they still work fine on earlier cars.

Oh aye so true Dell

All the silly nonsense of “will you take £50 now mate cash” & “I’ll come straight over if so”

Very dodgy place to be selling car related items now Ebay.

I had 13 offers in 3 days most over £250 , a couple at £300/310. Settled on £315 in the end plus postage £10
short of my BIN, but probably would have got more.
Crazy interest.

Not bad for a lead probably getting on for 18 years old and cost originally approx £225

😂 like my four MPS4S tyres, basically 200 miles use. I had them up at £400. So a saving of £150ish compared to brand new, yet I still got the usual would you take £300. Why can’t people be happy with a good deal. Can bet a months wages they would ask for discount on anything else they by face to face.
