To be fair to Scorpion they have contacted me today and offered a full free of charge fitting at their factory to understand why it does not fit my car. Also offered a tour of their manufacturing facility and compensation for my travel costs.
Not a bad offer for the inconvenience I have experienced.

Gotta expect some disruption when leading the way ;)

Update on the Scorpion downpipe:

As mentioned in my previous posts, Scorpion Exhausts invited me to their HQ in Ripley to resolve the fitting issue with the downpipe and decat. The system they supplied checked out OK for fitment to their manufacturing jigs. The car then went into their development workshop and their technicians fitted the downpipe to the car and confirmed that the under-body heat shield prevents the mid pipes from being properly aligned. After checking their own product development pictures, it could be seen that the under-body heat shield now has a raised rib section pressed into it compared to the car on which the development part was fitted. The technicians then spent several hours fabricating a revised downpipe section which diverted the mid-section away from the heat shield and aligned with the mid-pipes in the middle of the central driveshaft tunnel. I opted for the decat section to be fitted (as a direct comparison with the Milltek) but I could also still swap this short section for the 200 cell sports cat if desired.

The end result is a great sounding exhaust note, more sonorous and a deeper growl than the Milltek but not as loud - which suits me as the Milltek is bonkers loud.

I have to say that the staff at Scorpion Exhausts were fantastic and professional, they kept me informed of the various developments throughout the day and allowed me to observe all the work being done to my car.

It was an interesting drive home as I had driven up to Ripley with the Milltek decat fitted to the car. This has given me the opportunity to do a back to back comparison with the Scorpion DP.

Noise:

This is the bone of contention for a lot of owners of the FL car. In my opinion the Milltek DP with decat on the FL car is way louder than my old PFL car with the secondary decats. Anyone who wants to make their FL car sound like a race car should fit one of these. The Scorpion DP is a more subtle sound and I think is more like my PFL car with the secondary decats. My personal preference between the two is the Scorpion DP.

Performance:

I took the car to MRC today to get some dyno runs to check out power and torque comparisons with the Milltek DP. The results were very interesting as they confirmed what I could feel on the road. The in-gear performance with the Scorpion DP seemed a little 'laggy' below 3k rpm, not massively so, but just slightly different to the Milltek. Conversely, at the top end pull with the Scorpion DP, it felt that the power delivery above 4k rpm was really strong right up to 7k rpm. This was reflected in today's dyno results.

We ended up with just under 548ps and 747nm (using NF Octane booster). The Scorpion DP appears to produce a bit more top end power (around 8ps) than the Milltek, but the Milltek counters that with slightly better torque below 4k rpm. However, the Scorpion DP torque curve is less peaky (reasonably flat from 3k up to 5k rpm).

My FL Milltek decat DP will be up for sale, looking for £400 - only done around 350 miles. PM me if anyone is interested.

To top off the addition of the Scorpion decat downpipe and stage 2 mapping at MRC (dyno plot in post # 22 above) I took the car to Santa Pod today to see how it would do over the 1/4 mile.
Conditions were good, car had some NF octane booster, half a tank of Tesco Momentum and some light stripping of excess weight (removal of the rear bench seat seems to be the trend with these 1/4 mile sprints these days). Tyres were Michelin MPS4S run slightly soft at the front (no drag special slicks).
I managed to get three runs in before the waiting queue grew to an enormous length and waiting time went up to around 45mins to an hour before you got back to the front of the queue again (with cold tyres and hot engine - not good)

The timing slip below shows my three runs - all in the ten second bracket. 60ft times were nice and consistent too. My Dragy that I had onboard recorded 0-60 times - best being 3.09secs. Interestingly, I noticed that the 0-60 time with 1ft rollout included (that some owners like to use when quoting their performance times on forums) was just 2.85secs.

I have to say that I am very happy with the latest mods to the car and for fast road use it is a bit of a beast.
Some more brake upgrades (rear discs) and additional of rear ARB next on the list.

I’ve really enjoyed reading this thread !
I’m glad you’ve got on with the scorpion exhaust as they’ve like I mentioned before always served me well.

Seems like Audi could take a serious note out of their after care which seemed to be fantastic.

Thought I would provide an update after having the Scorpion downpipe fitted for quite a few month now. As a recap, there were some fitting issues with the original exhaust supplied by Scorpion and it was resolved with a custom fitting service at their HQ. Dyno and performance testing at MRC  revealed some differences when compared to the equivalent DP from Milltek which showed slightly less torque for the Scorpion below 4k rpm but gained more overall torque and power than the Milltek at higher rpm. This worked really well for a mapped car.

As for the noise, I think the sound it makes is fantastic especially at full chat where the tuned motor can rev round to the revised redline at 7500rpm. The Milltek in decat format is just bonkers loud but too much asbo for me.

After discussion of the results with Scorpion the only part of the exhaust which we felt could be improved was the Y section where the mid-pipes joined the stock pipes towards the backbox (hope the damn pics upload this time). Scorpion took this onboard and have produced a prototype Y section for me to try and see if it offers any further improvements in flow. Plan was to fit it at MRC and dyno it back to back with the original part but unfortunately the timing of the posted package didn't work out so I will be testing it over the summer period.

This is the original Scorpion Y section.....

and this is the prototype version to be tested.....

Stonking results! My facelift with similar mods(Milltek downpipe/200 cell cats) is going to MRC in a couple of weeks for remap. Only thing i dont like is the wastegate rattle you now get from 2k-3k

The wastegate rattle does get amplified more by fitting a downpipe and when driving around off boost. I put up with it at cold start and the warm up period where the revs are limited to 5500 rpm but soon as oil gets up to temp I switch to 'AUTO' mode and run it in 'S' which eliminates the rattle completely.

The 200 cell sports cat may be a sensible choice as I found the Milltek decat way too loud for a daily driver.

If you are chasing power numbers then you may need to consider fitting the Forge turbo inlet elbow combined with a larger air intake pipe (the Forge one is good). TIP: If you go for the Forge turbo elbow wrap it in reflective gold tape BEFORE having it fitted. It sits right next to all the hot bits around the turbo and the gold wrap helps with reflecting some of the heat.

i have done the forge hose and intake pipe also but not the gold wrap so hope it hols up! When you say auto mode are you talking about gearbox as i find it does it regardless of that?

Yes gearbox setting. Are you going to opt for the switchable mapping?

Don't know if one has been developed yet. I imagine the issue will be the extra couple of lamda sensors fitted into the lower OPF section, plus they will most likely need mapping out too.

Silly question Brian but if keep it in Auto and s mode does that equate to dynamic?

The 'S' mode (gearshift pulled back to select sport) opens the exhaust flaps and makes the nice sound we all like........I believe suspension and steering settings stay in normal settings until the car reaches faster speeds and then it stiffens up into dynamic settings......at least that what appears to happen with my car. If I switch it straight to 'Dynamic' the suspension immediately gets noticeably stiffer and has the louder exhaust tone, pope, bangs etc.

The Scorpion downpipe at lower revs (under 3k rpm) is nice an subtle but when you open the taps and let the needle spin round to 7K+ rpm the sound is just awesome.

It was not, just wondering if anyone tried sticking the old one on there. True regarding the mapping, but that can be done after. :)

sub 7 seconds to 100mph also looking at those times! My fl with slightly less power and torque has done a 0-60 3.19 and 0-100 7.06 so far

Happy with the Sub 4seconds but thought it might have been a bit quicker
