Is there any way to know if your turbo is alright without getting it off and inspecting it?

I had some foreign material get into the intake area which I have recovered and the car seems to be running fine, no noises etc and boost is ok. But I'm just worried whether I've damaged anything or not. I always thought it was game over if you got something in that area that wasn't supposed to be there.  :(

Never mind. It's screwed. The pitch at max boost is total different to what it should be. Glad I've managed to destroy the only decent car that I've ever owned. Guess I now have a pile of scrap and no money. Fantastic.

I guess the purpose of the thread should no be to see if a turbo re-build is financially viable on an 8P or do I just have a nice looking pile of scrap now?

I would do first a compression check followed by a borescope check. If both these show ok then a reputable turbo
rebuild shop should be able to sort you out. Hopefully any bits in there may get blown out of the exhaust. How did you
get anything down the turbo ?

Catalunya Red ,Heated rear window,Power steering,Wireless (with FM),Seat belts,Servo assisted brakes.Pneumatic tyres. Disc brakes.

But won’t that cost like £3000 or something? Is that really worth it on a car that’s worth less than £20k

And it’s my fault something got down there. I wasn’t paying enough attention but whatever it’s not much use dwelling on that now. It’s already fooked. I got the object out in one piece though so there’s no bits in there.

It still drives fine so I can get it to a workshop.

That's some bad luck. Good news is a stock rebuild wont cost you 3k, we offer a drive in service and can carry the hole job out for £1580.00+vat with 12 months parts and labour warranty. Foreign objects not covered  :D

If we had the vehicle, would only take us around 3 days with other work load going on. If you just sent us the turbo, we could possibly get it done by next day. Depending on work load also.

Ah ok. I may need to find somewhere a bit closer to me if it means being without a car for that length of time.

I totally understand, our work load just slows us down. We have got a standard unit in stock ready. I'm more then happy to sell you that on exchange. £695.00+vat free postage. You have 14 days to send us your old unit back. If we don't receive the unit within 14 days we send you a further bill for £250.00+vat.

I have a spare turbo if you need one to get you out the sh*t. It’s sitting in my loft ready for when I return back to standard. Not sure how to play it as I don’t really want to sell it but if you need one then perhaps we can sort something out. Eg, you have mine to get replaced, send yours to Ben for refurb and I have that. Or something like that.

Hopefully I should be able to sort something out, Jay. Thanks for the offer though. I’ll have to get on to the garages in the morning.

The car's been put back together but now it over-boosts... I'm beginning to thing that I've created a very expensive, car shaped paperweight.  :(
