What do you think? Aside from checking haldex etc been serviced anything else to look out for?
Price and mileage seem reasoable?
Cheers

Price is almost market value (Px value is £19500)
Looks tidy, mileage is below average
Mapped cars will need there plugs changing on a regular basis depending upon your driving style.
Make sure there is plenty of Service history and actually check it by ringing garage / dealer and seeing what they have on there system
Do a full HPI
Allow 10% of top of purchase price to cover tyres, brakes and service along with cam chain tensioners etc

When would the other items you refer to as 10% contingency need doing?
Brake discs are new
Cam tensioners wouldnt need doing for years yet would they?

To be honest i would not go on the mileage of the engine before i changed something. The car is a high performance motor and 6 years old. With all that power is not going to driven around carefully, so some of the key items will need changing before long.
I dont know the full history of the car, but usually an Audi Major service is oil, oil filter, pollen and fuel filter + few other checks handbrake etc which on the RS3 can equal £1000 at a dealers, if its had new disc there is £500 at least
If it was me looking at this car id get the following done ASAP.
DSG Gearbox Oil and Filter change, if not already done so (every 40,000 miles)
Haldex Oil and Filter Change
Camchain tensioner and chain check
New plugs

On the face of it it looks and sounds like a good car. As said before don’t use mileage as a marker on these cars. Low mileage cars can still have issues. Mine needing doing at cica 55k miles. You will know when it’s needs doing by the cold start rattle that develops. These can be needy cars as I found out the hard way. You can also have issues with the DMF starting to rattle that’s another £1100+ job. It’s wise to have a slush fund set aside for if/when issues arise.Cheers mate

Don’t be put off by the potential issues but don’t get blinkered into thinking it will all be plain sailing either. These are amazing cars, I love mine even though it’s cost me a lot in repairs. Mine has had more owners than I would have liked (probably contributed to some of the issues) but the spec was right for me.

Quite a few people want a RS3...... its the status / kudos of owning one of the best hatchbacks on the market that draws people in. (its rarity on UK roads and the noise is what i love!!)
Some cars are bought by people with the help of finance, which makes getting into a £40k car very cheap, life gets in the way and all of sudden finances are stretched and maintenance is delayed longer than anticipated.
These cars are very expensive to maintain / run / insure, scrimping on maintenance will only reduce the value of your prized motor and possible lead to more reliability issues and thats possiblely the reason that several cars i'd seen had 4+ owners.
£20k is lot of money for a 6 year old car, you could go and buy yourself brand new M140i for sub £30k(with lot of haggling)
The point being they are expensive to maintain, but they are a LOT of car. So if you allow yourself 10% it will not come as a shock and you not fall out of love with your newly purchased your pocket rocket.

PCP has been a god send for car manufactures they can get a lot more high end models out the door because people can afford a car for probably half what HP would cost over the same term.
You see plenty of pre and FL 8V’s around my way but the 8P is a rarer sight. You get a lot of looks from people probably thinking how’s that noise coming from an A3?
I came on here before I bought mine and bought mine with my eyes wide open as to potential issue. Just my luck I’ve had them all and some. This is the first car I have not got bored of driving. Every new modification just makes it that bit more pleasurable. I’ve loved the 5 cylinder noise since I was a wee lad in the 80’s also my friends dad had a UR Quattro in the late 80’s. In my opinion the only other thing that sounds better is the 5.0 or 5.2 V10.

This RS3 has had 5 owners and had a major service at Audi 5 months ago - oil, plugs, gearbox and haldex filter and oil, new discs on front.
Comes with 12 month rac platinum warranty (not sure if remap will invalidate this presume so).
It looks to have been well looked after woth relatively low miles, so what other common issues might i encounter? Hoping for a maintenance free 5-7k miles at least!!

I’m coming from a B7 RS4 so maintenance costs is what I am afraid of as everything went wrong with my RS4.

The most likely ones have been mentioned, even still these are not common as such.
To give you an idea of costs. The tensioners and DMF are the big ticket ones. I was the best part of £3k for timing chain top and bottom, tensioners, guides and DMF along with consumables oil, filters etc. This was at an independent 1) I would not like to see the bill from Audi. 2) I wouldn’t let them do it. Stupidly I never asked to get the variable cam adjusters done while the chains were done. Sods laws it’s currently in getting those done as the exhaust one started to rattle.
Haldex pump is a cheap and easy fix if you are half competent with a set of spanners. Probably £250-£300 all in for pump, Haldex oil and filter.
Anything else that may crop up will be usual wear and tear and shouldn’t be an eyes watering bill. Like you say brakes have been done so they shouldn’t cause any issue.
Plenty of guys have had trouble free motoring with these cars. It’s not all doom and gloom.

You’ll always hear about problems on a forum but 99% of the time they are a trouble free and extremely enjoyable car to own.
I had an 8P and now 8V, nothing comes close to the grin factor you get with these cars

Well, I bought it! Loving it so far. Did a good few miles today and no issues to report. Auto box taking some getting used to mind!

Enjoy bud I bought mine in February, only issue I have had is the high pressure fuel pump leaking and that was from the sensor not the actual pump, I don’t drive mine that often but every time I get in and drive it I love it! Recently fitted the milltek secondary cat sections and it’s even better.
