2:48 in this video for how to change gear at slow speeds with the Lamborghini (Audi) gearbox. The RS3’s gearbox is its only weakness - instant, snappy shifts at high revs but a lazy lurch, accompanied by a long bellow like a cow giving birth, around town. Following Mr JWW’s advice, I now pull the paddle, ease off the throttle (stop accelerating more than ease off), wait for the next gear to engage and then pick up the throttle. With a bit of practice it becomes seamless and sounds a lot less embarrassing.

Thread resurrection but if you think its embarrassing driving an RS3 around town maybe think of getting something else? I pull out of works car park and love sound of the lazy change from first to second when in manual. When its all warmed up and I take it out for a blast it sounds like a shotgun going off. Personally I think they have got it 100% right.

Thanks Dooahhdoo. It's taken me a full three months to get used to the 'box and it's not such an issue now. My son, who's more 'with it', thinks the lazy changes are really cool but, for the money, I would have expected something snappier at all speeds. I've noticed that the 'box gets snappier as it warms up and, as you say, high rev changes are like a shotgun.
