Haldex issue

I let the wheels turn in drive for a few minutes, then left for 5, checked level, topped up and repeat 3 times.
I believe Dell used that method when he did his. I adopted it and all seems fine, haven’t given it a blast yet though.

Unfortunately I don’t have vcds yet, so no priming here.

I’m still having an issue with the haldex not engaging. I’ve had a new pump along with new filter and fluid but the issue is still here. Had it scanned again today but with no codes.
Gaz.

If I remember correctly Haldex uses the steering angle along with a few other data signals to operate. I’m sure I read somewhere Haldex is disengaged at a certain steering angle input. Haldex pump failure doesn’t always give up a fault code just to make you aware. You can run an output test on the pump to see if it’s working.
I managed to get the car scanned yesterday by someone with vcds. There was no haldex fault codes at all. The only fault that wouldn’t clear was 01309 power steering control module (j500) 008 implausible signal. Could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks. I had the pump changed around 2 months back and it has been the same ever since. Hopefully it is down to this steering code fault, then I know what is it to repair or replace.
Literally just purchased an RS3. Noticed the wheels would spin on test drive. Got it repaired prior to purchase by VRS. Have used the car all of a few times and it seems to be spinning up again.
If you have any joy with yours mate let me know. I'm going to ring VRS this week to see where i stand as it was only repaired no more than 3 weeks ago with a new haldex pump filter and oil. If I get anything worth sharing on here I will.

Just had my diagnosis. Audi are saying the transfer box has gone. Just waiting for them to work out a price to replace it.
This was one of my fears when mine was playing up. I changed the oil in it and it came out absolutely black and smelt horrendous. Put the car in gear after changing the oil and all 4 wheels where turning though. It just seemed to play up when it felt like it. I would expect they will want 2-3k for parts and labour.

Mark what mileage was your car when you did the transfer box oil? Meant to be sealed for life..... wonder if we should all be changing this

I did transfer box and rear diff when I did my Haldex pump, filter and oil at around 52k miles when my Haldex started playing up. Rear diff oil was golden and smelt like gear oil, not sure if it had been done when along with the Haldex when the prop shaft was replaced before my ownership. Yes, both rear diff and transfer box are sealed for life according to Audi, they also say the Haldex filter is a non serviceable item. They have drain and fill plugs for a reason as far as I’m concerned. My 8V will be getting both done when I get a chance and it’s only on 21k. For the sake of 3 ish litres of oil and an hour or so, it’s peace of mind.

Are both the front and rear diff a simple drain and fill with no specific temperature required like the gearbox oil?

They have come back with £3346. Yes same thing, he had removed some and it was black. They said there was metal bits in it
As in a lot of metal and decent sized pieces? I get the feeling there is going to be metal particals in the oil as Audi claim it’s sealed for life and never gets changed. The metal from running in will stay in the oil until it’s changed if ever. Is warranty work the reason you are going through Audi?

Pretty much, drain and then refill till it starts to dribble out of the fill hole. An oil syringe makes life a whole lot easier for filling. If I remember right it’s +/-1ltr in each. When I bought the oil form the Millers website it even says check every 48 months or 40k miles.

Rear diff is simply drain / refill same as transfer box.No temps required. Front diff is part of the dsg gearbox. Are both the front and rear diff a simple drain and fill with no specific temperature required like the gearbox oil?
