Hi all, I hate to add another brake post but I will be due some new discs/pads shortly for mine, in my search for the right combination I have stumbled accross these from JDL, has anyone fitted them?

Apparently fit with the OEM caliper, was thinking of getting either Ferodo DS2500 or EBC redstuff pads to pair with them?

 

Was mainly tempted by the reduction in price compared to the Alcon discs and carriers

I was also contemplating getting some 18" winter wheels and tyres but I guess if I fit these it'll move the caliper out closer to the rim

Are they the 370x32 ones?

There direct replacements 370x32mm to the oem discs mate.😁
I didn't rate redstuffs tbh 🤔 I'm using Ferodo DSs which work brill but Martin at Reylands recommends Ferodo DS2500s for all his brake kits.😊

There £750 for the fronts which are fully floating & the rears are £550 fixed two piece.

Thats a bit better for the wallet, I was thinking that I would have to get a second (third) mortgage just to change the brakes.....

I've just done an oil,all filters & spark plug service last weekend £144 for the parts.😊

Sending mine to an idie, having the full works, all filters, all oils/fluids and some shiney new spark plugs, quoted at £500, didn’t think was too bad considering Audi wanted £1500....

And they are going to look at the suspension top mounts for me as I think they have started to knock

Had a reply from Martin, £595 for bolted or £745 for floating plus £15 P&P

I changed the dsg oil/filter also the Haldex oil/filter last year. 😁

Yeah thinking I should offset them all, but I’ll only end up forgetting what was done last year

Think I will probably go for the floating discs, now I’m tempted to do all 4, the rears have never been touched as far as I can tell... how long do the DS2500s last?

I can't say as i haven't used them yet but they will increase discs wear & may need a little bit off heat into them i beleave & no wear sensors if that bothers you.

I havent got them fitted on my as I'm use Ferodo DSs for a Mitsubishi Evo 5/9.

Ferodo Premier are a good pad & cheap at £40 they also have the low pad warning facilitate.😊

I will look into those too then, from what I have read on the Ferodo website the DS2500 has the lowest operating Temperature range of 20-500, unless its a typo...

Don’t need anything too racey only doing day-to-day stuff and the odd spirited drive, possibly round a track every now and then

Thanks for the advice Dell, I got the reyland floating fronts in the end, with curved grooves rather than the hooks, as I personally don't like the hooks, paired with DS2500's haven't driven it yet but I'm looking forward to seeing what the difference is.

You've changed the brakes & haven't test drove it & your test drive will be on the way to work🤔🤔🤔

Yeah whats the worst that could happen? it stops it on the drive, everything is connected and tight.

All’s good with the new brakes, they seem pretty good straight away, sure they will get better once fully bedded in

They will get much much better once fully bedded in & you get a little bit off heat in the pads.😁
