Well guys I have covered over 1000 great miles in the RS so far and want to change the oil at 1500 miles. I have bought the filter, "o" ring and oil and had asked Audi to do the work. They gladly said yes and it would take 1.3 hours labour at £150.00 per hour!!! Am I missing something here...if you have an RS it costs more or what?

I did look at the video on youtube as to how to change it but is seems a bit difficult specially getting the filter housing removed and having to purchase a special tool to remove the oil from the housing before removal. Any ideas on the Audi cost?

Standard Audi rates

They have over heads you know

Oil change is dead easy.

Takes longer to remove / put back the engine under tray.

As you said the drain tube makes it less messy......

I'll only use an Audi independent Specialist  - last service on my 8V before I sold it, cost me £50.00 for the labour  :P

If there's one thing I've learned from buying a lot of cars over the last few years it's use an independent.

Service history is service history and they can't knock money off a trade in for non dealer history.

Save yourself some coin and use a decent garage you trust.

I saved £450 on one service by going elsewhere, no way I'd ever see that back at trade in.

I'm still so confused whether to stay with Audi servicing or dump them. The S3 is 3 years old end of this month so one last Audi service and a specialist after that. What to do with the 4 though ...

Why not find a good indie ?

You use AKS a lot don’t you John? Are they able to do the work and update the digital service schedule via Erwin ?

A good point you've just mentioned there Sean.

If you are going to use an independent, make sure they are registered & setup to use Audi Erwin.

Otherwise they will not be able to update the digital service schedule for your vehicle (RS)

Dump them - you know it makes sense.  The money you'll save on two car's can go towards Mod's for one or both?  ;)

The Erwin part is very important because that will show on Audi’s system should you need a warranty claim......

They will check Erwin to see if all services have been carried out and who has done them.

Every Dealer / Indie will have their own reference number.
