Yes, exactly. You can open the flap, without push sport button.

I have my car full decat. The morning cold start is a bit loud. I can close the flap with this on cold start.

This was my reason to buy.

If you have kept the standard backbox and not modified it, the flap is closed on cold start / high idle regardless of Sport button.

If the sport button is pressed on start up , the flap still closes. When the initial high idle drops, the flap then opens.

Mine is open on cold start, when idle is drops, it close on startup.

On mine, and every other 8p RS3 I’ve seen ...

Just to be clear, engine off , exhaust flap is open. ( flap is shut by vacuum/ open when no vacuum)

Cold start, as soon as engine starts, vacuum is created by engine and flap snaps shut, until the initial high idle has finished, then the S button will open flap, if it’s been previously pressed/ is pressed.

After this the flap is opened / closed at various revs/ speeds/ gears as programmed by Ecu. More so in Sport button mode.

Sounds like yours might not be standard? Been mapped? Or already had the flapper mod done ?

Or stuck ( although that doesn’t explain how you hear difference with it open/ closed)

My RS5 flaps were activated by vacuum but it seems the ones on the 2018 saloon are activated by electric motor. On the 5 I simply disconnected the pipe which meant the flaps, were continuously open. I want to do same with my RS3 when I get it in a few, weeks time.

I would also like to keep the flaps open most of the time if there is a solution. I guess if there is a unit which controls vacuum it won’t be any good on the FL models.
