Hi guys and girls I've come across an intercooler that was on a 500bhp ttrs it look to be some kind of mk1 version of the forge intercooler as now the ttrs and RS3 version forge do both look the same and age taller than the one intercooler. By all accounts this one I have been offered shouldn't need any modifying to bumper or crasher. The dimensions are 560x150x150 does anyone know if it would fit? I'm more concerned about the width. I have pictures to follow...

These are all the pictures I found online, if the fitment and intercooler design between ttrs and RS3 is the same I can't see a problem but I'd like to know it fits the RS3 before I buy. Thanks

well its quite different to that of the RS3 version in terms of how it mounts and it doesn't cut into the crash bar, however the pipe fitment is the same.

This was mine when being fitted. Note the different mounting points

The standard intercooler on the 8J RSTT & 8P RS3 are the same but the Forge one's are types specific mate.

Could I not get the mounting brackets/holes welded into place of the RS3 then? I know a guy 😉. Does yours have the standard crash bar or a modified version?

Having looked further into this, the mounting brackets won't be an issue with the standard crash bar as long as the 2 intercooler are the same in standard form. The thing that worries me is the clearance in behind the bumper and to the radiator. However I'll just bite the bullet and take a chance.

There is pretty much zero gap behind the bumper and radiators. 5mm or so maximum.

That TTRS one looks shorter than the RS3 one but slightly thicker so I really don’t think it’s going to fit at all like. Used RS3 ones pop up for about £700 with the crash bar. I wouldn’t use a chopped crash bar as it has almost zero strength without the extra piece welded in by Forge.

Just remember you have an Expensive car, don’t take shortcuts or it could be majorly expensive to repair
