hi there I'm a newbie to the forum, don't own an RS3 yet but been and looked at a couple and I'm just wondering if anyone could share some advise on what to look for at a viewing. i have currently been and looked at 2 cars as I'm quite fussy on what spec i want. The only thing is the two i have been and looked at when i got there and viewed the car the seller has told me they have had new engines one at a price of £6k one at a price of £9k both cars needing new engines due to running too much power and not being able to handle it. Both cars were advertised as standard but when i got there i soon realised they were modified and mapped.

Im just looking for advise on what to look for when viewing as in anything specific, i have been doing a bit of research and see that there is "Audi updates" that should be done to things like brakes but to be quite honest I'm clueless when it comes to these cars coming from a vauxhall.

appreciate any advise you could share TIA

tom

Welcome fella

There's some pretty knowledgeable folk on here - I'm not one of them, I'm in the research period before buying. Sure someone will help you out shortly. Only thing I would say is it if feels wrong or you have any reservations then walk away. The right car will come along eventually, don't compromise :)

Dreaming of a Merlin purple RS3 with all the trimmings :)

Yeah that’s what I’m like if I’m spending £20k+ on a car I want it to be right, I’m fussy with the spec too going to look at another this weekend coming so hopefully it could be the one fingers crossed haha

I hate it when people say new engine ( specifically what went wrong ) cause a new engine would set you back 20k as one member found out.
Plenty have modified these cars without issue again depends if done properly there’s one member who’s car isn’t running far off double standard bhp without any issues.
Just take your time and you’ll find the right car

Sorry for the late reply, yeah I have found one hopefully go and pick it up next weekend! Completely standard all it’s life just looked after and maintained and it’s in the spec I want which is a bonus! So with any luck I should be posting a pic of it on here next weekend :)

Well... thanks for all your help everyone I am happy to say I took the jump and got myself an RS3!! I looked at the one in Aylesbury 2 weeks ago and after people’s help on here I found the previous owners and after speaking to them I decided it was the one I was going for. Drove it back 3 hours home and what can I say I’m in love! Actually drove home with a big cheesy grin on my face it drives fantastic, completely standard which I wanted and the spec I wanted. Will get some pictures up once it’s had a clean the dealer had it detailed and after the drive home it was pretty minging so will get it cleaned up and post some pics! Thanks again for everyone’s help and info here’s hoping to a long and trouble free ownership

Glad you finally got one enjoy and if you need any advice this is the place to come.
Be interesting to see pics when you’ve got it cleaned as Aylesbury only 15miles from me I might recognise the car
