Hey guys

My quattro system seems to have failed and the car is only driving as a 2 wheel drive. I have tried having a browse through some forum's to see if there is any info and I have come across that it could be the haldex pump that's gone....

I don't have any lights on the dash.

Am I on the right lines with the fault? I would like to have some idea on what it could be before I speak to Audi.

Hello Daniie,

It will be most likely be that the Haldex pump has failed. This is a common problem on the RS 3 (8P)

I've recently had to have the Haldex pump replaced on my Mrs 8p for exactly the same reason as you are having.
The car wont show up any dash error light for this fault.

HTH?

I would take it to a specialist or do it yourself as Audi will replace the pump but they won’t do the filter and It will just happen again down the line as the filter will no doubt be gummed up as well. You don’t get a warning light as such the traction control light will just flash.

You can get the Haldex oil, filter, spacer and aluminium cap from Haldex parts on eBay, I think Awesome GTI still do them also.

I did mine a few months back and it’s one of the more straight forward jobs.

Relative cheap fix for this.

As everyone says the filter isn’t a service item (god knows what they were thinking here).

Simple enough DIY or if not use an indie who’ll do a full replacement of the pump / fluid / filter.

Regular changes are a good idea to keep things running A ok.

Below is a Golf 7 R filter. Look at the state of it.....
