High oil temp?

Commuting home from work yesterday from town, I was surprised to look down and see my oil temp sitting at 107 deg celcius. I was in sport mode (ie stupid high idle) and ambient temp was about 27 deg celcius (ie not extremely hot) and it was mostly stop start driving for maybe 10mins without any ability to thrash it. Probably hit 4000 revs tips for all of about 1 second.
When I noticed the temp I put it back in normal drive mode and eventually it dropped back to about 95 which more was normal I thought.
My last car was a mk6 golf r which hit 117 during a very very long track stint but would otherwise sit at 91 under normal driving. So 107 in commuting traffic surprised me to say the least.
Temp sensor error perhaps or normal?
Thanks all

The new FL one hasn’t seen much over 100 deg yet but it’s colder here in the uk so not able to offer a proper comparison really.

I wouldn't worry about 107' given that you was driving in sports mode & the outside temperature was 27' & commuting, if it was 130' in those conditions then there would be something wrong.
Bear in in mine you need air flow to keep the engine cool & the RS uses a water 2 oil oil cooler.
Your engine water temperature gauge isn't that accurate in showing the actual temperature.

I've do likewise when doing track days but on the road I don't feel the need mate & it's just another thing to do a headf**k on myself 🤔

Completely understand re airflow but in ordinary driving that should influence water temp as much (if not more) than oil temp and water temp was absolutely normal.
I reckon it was just the sensor or display being a bit ‘special’ as on the same morning I got an alert notifying me that my right front tire had lost pressure despite the fact that it hadn’t when you looked at the actual pressures on the read out. May as well have just got the M2 instead if I wanted electrical gremlins this early on. Could have had a manual too. Oh well.

Put it in manual and revs drop back.On a similar topic, is there a mechanical reason why Audi set the idle so high when in sport mode? I assume it’s purely to make it sound louder and appease the many people who buy cars for show rather than actual performance. Really sh*ts me as I want the exhaust open but not the high idle. I know I could disconnect the exhaust flap manually so it’s permanently open, but I don’t want to do that as sometimes I like it quiet (hence the point if a switchable exhaust!)

High idle = closer to torque band plus more gas going through the blower. Result? Superior take off.

Ah another FL "thing"Putting it in manual when in S keeps the revs high unlike the PFL where they drop.

Must be something they are adopting as G7.5R did the same in Race when flicking across to manual mode.
