Was looking to fine a way to stream audio from my phone via BT rather than to use the AMI cable connection all the time. A few old threads on the 8P board mention Tunes2air so I take it that that's the way to go the get it to work in our cars but I just had a few questions for anyone that has had experience with it:

Is there a specific model that you need?

Does the phone connectivity with the MMI still work or can you only do one at once?

And how easy is it for a passenger to play music?

Cheers for any info. :)

I use tunes2air, it’s model specific you need this one:-
https://www.amazon.c...g/dp/B00R2HZ1XU

The phone still works via AMI, pauses tracks and continues after call etc.

Passenger would be the same setup as driver although they would have to pair up to it. You may have to disconnect your phone to prevent interference but I’ve only ever used my phone for it.

It’s good and does the job whilst keeping track information on the AMI if using your using iTunes however if you use Spotify it won’t show track info details.

Also sometimes when you get in your car and want the car to continue where you last left off it doesn’t always do this. Hit and miss. I think it depends how long you leave the car for before it kind of resets itself. Best bet is to create playlists so you can always quickly select your favourite songs.

But nevertheless for £80 it ticks the boxes and it auto charges so no need to keep charging it up.

Sounds like it does everything that I'm looking for.

Glad it keeps the track info if you're using iTunes/Apple Music, that would probably annoy me not having that.

It actually gives a better experience than connecting your iPhone to the 8V via Bluetooth (in terms of track info and selection) though it is a faff when it comes to voice control, for example.

Tried this out this morning and seem to work really well. Though that was only on a short trip to work, I'll test it out more over the weekend.

Seems to work for a little while but then the AMI just stops responding... You can still play from the iPhone through the speakers but with out AMI control it’s useless. :(

Though I seem to remember a similar fault with an iPhone 6 being connected to my AMI. I’ve never had a problem with the ancient iPad that I normally use though - Is there some kind of update the AMI needs for newer toys?

I’ve used tunes 2 air with an iPhone 6, 7 and X and no issues. Try unpairing and re pairing. Sometimes it does have a mind of its own but generally it sorts itself out

Sometimes you have to be patient for the phone and AMI to pair up when. I had lots of trouble with not pairing and realised I was messing about with it to early and giving it a minute made all the difference. Works great now with iPhone 7+

ah android! That’ll be why. The tune2air device was mainly aimed for the Apple market which is why it works slightly better.
