Hi All. Just checking in after quietly reading threads for a few days. Currently have a manual Golf R 7.5 and thinking about a RS3 (probably a used FL model) when my PCP deal expires. A little way off yet, but I like to do plenty of homework! The Golf is a great little car, no question, but the engine can't compare with the RS3.

Hi Phil welcome. I was the same spent a lot of time reading up about the car it’s pros and flaws and settled on 2015 model in August. I came from a TTS and although this trumped it in the handling stakes the RS3 raw power sound and whole driving experience blows the tt out of the pond. Never looked back no regrets. If your in to modding the car the wealth of knowledge on this forum by some of these guys is second to none and also like me try to do most of your own service bits again help is always on hand with various tech drawings and so on, your in safe hands on here, enjoy your search mate

Hiya!

I test drove a Golf R & RS3 when making a decision about which I should dig a hole in my wallet for. The Golf was lovely, but as Dan said above, the power and sound from the RS3 was like no other. For me, personally, the virtual cockpit and interior build quality were major selling points over rivals. It really is sublime..

All the best!

Thanks. Yep, the Audi interior is lovely. The virtual cockpit is certainly nicer than the 'basic but functional' one in the 7.5R, but it will be a game of leapfrog within the VAG group over the next few years. VW have already upgraded for 2018 (higher res display, different screen layout) - as seen in the new Polo GTI (looks like a cracking little car btw) and the T-Roc. However, I'm sure Audi will remain at the top of the food chain!

Pleased for you mate. Gotta live your dream, as they say (finances permitting!). I'll look forward to seeing some pics and hearing about your initial impressions, especially as we are currently driving what is essentially the same car underneath.

Welcome Phil! Got to love the research stage... probably why I end up buying so many cars!   You're going to love the RS3!
