Are there any upgrades either performance or not that we can do that do not invalidate the Audi warranty?

I’d like a set of HR springs or equivalent and a remap when APR get theirs sorted. Obviously I want to beat the warranty being voided so would appreciated if this is possible.

Stu,

It depends on your dealer, My 8p was mapped and my local dealer knew it but they didnt mind as they still got paid by Audi if any warranty work needed doing.

I have heard of other dealers refusing any warranty work and putting a "td1" I think its called against the car so then your warranty is voided !

So it all depends where you are based and your dealer mate

I will have to have a word.

Do you think the APR map will be detectable?

Im sure it is yes ,

With the 8P the ecu had to be taken out and opened to remap it im sure on the 8V its done via the obd port .

Im sure they can see by certain parameters that its been mapped if they needed to look further for investigation .

Audi couldn't detect my APR map. They did look for it, not sure how hard they tried but it was sold with the remap. As Roy says if they really wanted to check I'm sure they could, and agreed it very much down to the dealer and your relationship with them.

I was thinking of Remap when mine arrives and was going to ask if there an authorised tuner which didn’t invalidate the warranty by doing so, my supplier dealer is Camberley Audi

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think mtm invalidates your warranty.

QS Tuning in Haywards Heath will be able to give you more info, ask for Kim or Alex they're Audi specialists.

Years gone by AMD remaps were ok at Bexley Audi but i can't say that is now so  ;)

I would guess a remap would leave some kind of foot print in the ECU if they looked deep enough  :(

Abt offer a warranty with their tunes however they are normally £10k plus! Imho assume warranty gone if you map the car.

Yeah I know I get this impression, the wife had a Stage 3 conversion at 600 miles on her car pmsl, which I didn’t worry about as the car never went back to vauxhall for anything, I even paid the Tuner to do warranty work lol

I would not waste your money on MTM. Been down that route with a friends car, tested it all on various dynos, Vbox runs, 1/4 mile sprints etc etc and can say for the money you get just a little whiff of mid -range torque and a handful of bhp. No surprises that Audi don't mind as the power increase is so small it probably doesn't put hardly any extra stress on the engine.

Same thing with ABT, another expensive tuning package which comes up short. Check out the black and gold wrapped TTRS ABT R which supposedly had 500bhp. The owner ended up taking it to MRC to get it sorted. You can see the result (before and after) on the MRC Facebook page.

It will be good to compare the stage 2/2+ maps from both MRC and APR when they arrive. Just out of interest does Audi say an MTM and ABT are ok to have in?

A group of us did an PFL 8V 'tuner wars' MRC v APR v Litchfield 1/4 mile stage 2 comparison last year at Santa Pod. Conditions weren't that great with a fair bit of headwind but it was the same for all the cars on the same track, same day.The MRC cars came out on top, followed by the APR 2+ car (the one on Archie Hamiltons Youtube vlog) and then the Litchfield stage 2 car in third spot. The APR car may have gone faster but was experiencing some running issues after 2 or 3 runs.

There are now a few more FL cars starting to appear with stage 2 upgrades from the usual companies, so I guess a 'tuner wars round two' will be on the cards at some time. :boxing:

As I understand it, I believe that you will need to purchase an MTM/ABT extended warranty cover for their products.

Here are the MTM prices.

You may need to take a seat.

It doesn’t seem much of a power increase on either option. No wonder you can get a warranty because I doubt much will go wrong on that, but I also don’t trust warranties. They always cover mechanical breakdowns and not wear and tear, which makes things hard to prove either way.
I remember having a warranty where the clutch shattered and damaged the flywheel, which is very rare. The warranty company said there were some heat spots on the flywheel which meant the clutch grabbed unevenly causing the issue. Flywheel heatspots were classed as wear and tear and therefore I could foxtrot oscer:-(

I think my sinical view of warranty repairs has certainly not changed hearing some of you guys poor treatment on here. Don’t worry in the future in will be straightforward when we can only drive speed restricted electric cars. Lol

I still can’t get emoji to work on my phone.
