So the A8 has now been released and the A7 has appeared in press photos, whats everyones take on the new revised MMI dual screens and is it going to trickle down eventually to the next A3? Would make sense it would appear in some format.

My view, this looks a big step forward in terms of tech. though also seems a little OTT too? The twin screens look great but whats wrong with old fashioned dials and buttons. Then again Audi have always tried to push tech, one thing for sure, it makes BMW interiors look even more dated.

To be honest I'm not a fan of touch screens for everything! Climate control, hazard lights and other important things should be buttons in my opinion, haptic feedback or not...

I think my OCD would go into meltdown with all those finger print marks on the screen 😂 trivial I know.

Touch screens are terrible for vehicle applications. The only way you can locate an on-screen control is by looking at it; real physical controls let you operate by touch whilst keeping your eyes on the road.

Audi were one of the last hold-outs on effectictive control design, but clearly they are capitulating to the market forces which say ‘touch screens for everything’. A sad day. Hopefully it won’t filter down to the ‘cheap’ models (i.e. MQB models) for a while yet.

I'm a big fan of the virtual cockpit but sorry Audi I don't like that huge iPad!

As soon as there's a few fingerprints on it it'll be a pain in the arse, plus as said by others you have to look at it while driving so not ideal.

They have the same in the new Velar, looks a mess when it's been used with all the fingerprints

To many gadgets and gizmos to distract the driver now in cars.
