I was wondering if anyone had fitted any aftermarket units to their 8P as the RNS-E technology is pretty dated. I quite fancy upgrading it for something with appleplay etc.. Any suggestions?

Jay.I've looked down this road and the alpine ILX700 has CarPlay and been told it has no issues with the Bose sound system as that's something to be wary off. I think it's the sub that causes issues with other units. Only thing that bugs me is that the phone has to be plugged in for the CarPlay to work. I'm holding out for a wireless one which I'm sure is due to be released some point this year
You just need a head unit which has Bluetooth for your hands-free 😊
Dell.

CarPlay is pretty good to be fair.
The other thing with most aftermarket head units is they don’t show Nav instructions in the DIS, well they didn’t in 2014 when I enquired for my 8p, was told Pioneer, Kenwood etc couldn’t find a way to integrate with the DIS because of the Audi can bus protocols.

Good thinking. I know someone with an Alphine unit so I'll pick his brain.

Okay cheers mate.
Need too look at a few options. Apple Carplay would be nice but whats more vital for me is Bluetooth for Phone and Music.
Do you know of any decent options mate?

tunes2air works with RSNE, cuts music off when call comes in etc. Plays Bluetooth playlist. I have an iPhone so can’t comment on other providers but I believe tunes2air is only apple compatibleOkay cheers mate.

Tune2air works with android devices but it won't display track listings on the screen.
