Looking at getting my RS3 8p mapped and drawn to mrc purely because its all custom to my car. Car just has a panel filter and secondary decat pipes. Anyone had any dealings with them from just a stage 1 to full blown tte500 etc? Opinions needed.

Wouldn't take my car anywhere else.  Doug and Minhea (remotely) are genius's and Doug is an absolute gent to boot.  You don't win the Audi Tuner tuner of the year award like 9 years on the bounce by being mediocre.

Did my original engine and gearbox map and also the fine tuning to the mappings after my TTE500 was fitted.  I'd have gotten them to do the whole fitment etc etc if they were closer to home.

Take your car to them, you will thank me.

I was there Wed this week. I've not really had the chance to experiment in full in different conditions yet as been too icy and not too much driving at other times. I also had the gearbox map.

Having come from a pretty highly tuned STi and used to smooth dyno graph lines, I am a bit surprised to see so many 'wiggles' which seems to indicate to me that the map hasn't been adjusted here and there to be the best that it can be : indeed the 'post map run' says Run1 on it. I was also short on time, so it was a rush job.

As I say .. I haven't managed to use the car much since my visit other than on the motorway, so I am reserving judgement as to whether I am totally happy yet .. but .. it is definitely more responsive now .. and ... I absolutely got the impression that if I had any concerns that Ben and co would do what they could to sort things out as a lovely and professional bunch of people .... and easy to get to too as just off M40 at Banbury.

Go to MRC Tommy, you won't be disappointed. Whilst they are a little more expensive as they don't do offers, that's well justified as you get a true custom map for you car that's mapped through the OBD! Their results speak for themselves and the fact they continually win "tuner of the year" says it all.
I'd say they're arguable one of the best in the business..
I'm back there next Friday for a health check and DSG service 👍

Is this the case on the 8P or does it still require the ECU to come out and be broken into/ enabled first?

8p is ECU out job for initial mapping definitely.  Tweaks maybe done via OBD port afterwards I believe.

Revo mapping is via OBD only plus you can get a wee switch thing to vary the fun.

Yes I visited MRC a couple of days before RS3 fest. Originally my visit was to be for an engine full health check based on the issues observed at both SRR and QSTuning with my MTM box. Suffice to say and without going over old sh1t, I told MRC before hand, if the health check is done to their satisfaction and they find no issues with the engine - then they can go ahead and do their magic.

Luck was also on my side as it so happened, Mr M R C himself was in that day and not only did my car pass their health check, Minhea was the one to do all the tuning (ECU and DSG) work on the dyno. Doug and his team did the evo3 IC fitment etc.

I'm back up there in March for the follow up check and fine tune and tweak to what is an excellent job they did on the day, 438 PS and 601Nm.

Coincidentally, after visiting SRR this weekend, they showed 444 PS 603 Nm on their dyno - happy days!

Take from what everyone here has said, they are THE Audi tuning specialists.

That's interesting you say about health check I've had an engine sound not been happy with for s while but multiple visits to Audi can't find it even when I showed master tech 🤔 So trip to MRC sounds like the next route just to get piece of mine as it's starting to make me fall out of love the car ( we have a very love / hate relationship)

Lucky man to have Mihnea do his magic on your car. That man is indeed a master of the tuning craft.

Thinking about when I first came across Mihnea is a real blast from the past. Mihnea and Doug were regular contributors to the S2 Forum - which was a really good source of practical information when I had my RS2.

The S2 Forum had a Rolling Road Meet at PTS in Luton in December 2003 and the SO and I went along with as spectators with my RS2. Mihnea was there with his laptop, tuning and engineering expertise.

Was looking forward to seeing Doug's S2 in the flesh - seem to remember it arriving or departing on a trailer. Lee - who was also involved in starting MRC - had his amazing cricket green S2 Avant (with awesome brakes and TDI badges!). Greg_S arranged the meet and had a very nice S2 coupe. The S2 had totally passed me by - well I guess the RS2 had until 2002/2003. Still haven't managed to get an S2 in my life.

Nine years since I had an RS2 in my life :(. It was the right thing to sell her at the time but I she's definitely been my car of a lifetime. Hopefully one day there'll be another one in my life - but definitely wouldn't suit life as a daily runner on the congested local roads in the way Big Blue did for five years. I was lucky to have her.
